    Koh Lipe how to?

The Dragon Lady and I are doing our far ranging forward planning thing again and we are looking at some time on Koh Lipe.We would like some advice on the best/easiest ways to arrive there from either Phuket or Langkawi.

It has been suggested that we fly to Hat Yai then drive to the coast and take a ferry across but we aren't overly keen on Hat Yai so any other and all advice given will be eagerly awaited and gladly received.

    Cheers,Crocman.
You're fat,Ill fro you in the river

koh lipe - a spanish guy who is bangin' the sister of my current girlfriend opened up a resort on the island about two years ago. he bought or perhaps leased some land & proceeded to erect some bungalows etc. for tourist occupancy. based on my rough calculations he should recoup his initial investment in the next 20-25 years. still, it was family money, not his. i went down there earlier this year on the sleeper train from bangkok central railroad station, stayed a night in HY & then took a boat over to lipe. as you'd expect it was a bit of a paradise, especially when compared to places like pattaya and the klong toei swamplands. the only drawback for me were the fact that no 7-elevens were allowed on the island, which allowed the local vendors to charge outrageous prices for the basics, and that being an island, everything was expensive. no place for a cheap-charlies like me. if you want peace & quiet in the sun, it's a place to go. i have loads of images of the nice islands, the clear waters & the resort, but i won't bore you here with them

Mate, post those pics up.Thats what this place is all about, you will have plenty of interest shown.

Nice quiet islands to laze around on and maybe do some diving, sounds like the spot for the Dragon Lady and I to while away some hours.

Might be tough to get there off season. I took the Nok all in deal. Wasn't bad, DMK-HTY, van , & boat. IIWY I'd take it one way and take the coastal ferries on the way out. I remember reading that Langkawi is closer and they do the passport stamp right on the beach. 90% of Lipe is covered in really noisy, petrol leaking, longtails that take folks to outer islands. Hardly a spot to swim & forget sleeping in. If I had a do-over I'd stay at the Mtn Resort, it's stunning and on an epic beach w/no longtails. Can't figure out how too add my pics, so here you go. Thanks for your advice and for the link. That Mountain resort looks just the ticket for me and the fire breather.

Judging by the travel advice given on the site I would say we may choose to travel from Langkawi up to Lipe.

Once again thank you for your help.
