Because he is the head of the Democratic Party which has 172 seats in the House of Representatives. He is not retired from politics. He is an active member of the government. As ex-PM, he should show a little stamina and concern.

Exactly! The muzzies that go around killing school teachers and monks by beheading, machete attacks, IEDs, drive-by shootings, etc. The muzzies that use women and children as human shields. Take off your blinders. You're seriously going to keep rehashing Tak Bai? They're not Thais. They're Malaysian invaders that need to be driven south in expedited fashion.
Active member of the legislature, in fact - and, as pointed out before, the royally-endorsed/constitutional leader of the opposition.Quote:

Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjachiva stated that after surveying the flood affected areas he was of the opinion that too much importance was placed by the government on high tides.
The former prime minister warned that the government should not neglect the approaching water runoff from the North, which has breached flood embankments even as the sea tides is subsiding.
The opposition leader also suggested that the government should use its authority to control people during the flood crisis.

I saw an interesting photo on the Red Shirt websites, contrasting Ms. Y. and Abhi.
There was Ms. Y., up to her knees in filthy water, and there was Abhi, being assisted into a boat avoiding his shoes from getting wet.
If I wasn't such a Luddite, I would post it.

Have fun filling in the blanks!
Maybe he should first try to convince his BMA Governor.
I don't see that they are neglecting it. Though you are pissing into the wind trying to pump against the tides. There will be just more water spilling out the sides.
We don't need the army to go around shooting people again and then deny that it happened...
All he is interested in is having a State of Emergency for some odd reason.Quote:

^Agreed. Enough already - from whichever side.
she was probably wearing her Prada shoes, can't blame her though, spoiling a pair of Prada would be an unforgiving crimeQuote:

From my water level viewpoint however, the managemnt of the present crisis is pathetic. Information being given out is contradictory or often flat out wrong. Thre is a growing deep resentment that the efforts are being made to "keep bangkok dry", and not (primarily) to alleviate the waters in places that are flooded. East and west of bangkok it seems people suffer more so that bangkok does not suffer at all.
For these latter two things, Yingluck is in the hot seat and will have to stand accountable for at some point.
To me the central issue is that Yingluck stood, whether on her own or as a proxy of taxin does not really matter, but she is responsible. People bought the story that this political virgin had the experience and training to run a country. It is clear she does not. Nobody expects yingluck to be an expert on everything, but her prime job was to co-ordinate things, and make sure that only one voice was being heard, and that the information being given out was correct. In all of these, she has failed.
More pertinently, she may have done more damage to the red/PT movement than good. Sacrificing the population outside central bangkok to save the predominantly democratic central bangkok may well be a fatal body slam....
Yes she could have re-organised the whole of the Thai public service, military, police by now. She had plenty of time :smileylaughing:
You can't even really blame the previous government for the in-efficient and corrupt structure in these organisations that is where the real blame lies!
While we are at it why don't we blame her for not fixing climate change or at least get it under control.
^ you take the hot seat, you take the blame. Its her inexperience that is resulting in too many different voices being heard, and too many conflicting efforts being made.
^ why do you try to confuse "coordination" with "censorship"? Looks like you are the one with an adgenda.
Just out of interest, where are you at the moment?
 The only confusion is your use of the word "coordination" along with Thailand. Eithen the person with the best coordination skills would have trouble controlling the various interest groups. You seem to forget that she has taken over an organisation that most people in control owe their position to the opposition.
What is "adgenda"?
I just looked out the window. It appears to be Bangkok.
Wow, have you swallowed the media agenda or what nidhogg.Quote:

Let me make my point to you as well:
In this instance, I would add that the media attack has clear objectives and clearcut sponsors.Wall-to-wall criticism without one sliver of positives, is not criticism but an attack.
Not only have you bought into the media onslaught, you have joined them in your Posts.
But then shouldn't we be discussing this on the "flood and Politics" thread?
Wow. Tweedledum and tweedledee.
Read the begining of my earlier post. Like many people I don't give a shit of the government is red, yellow or purple.
Let me say that, whatever else was going on with Taxin, you would have seen a more co-ordinated and directed response than the current clusterfuck...
