As stated by the police. The Thai system of policing is corrupt. Do you think they would hesitate for a second to stitch up an innocent man to protect their own or gain favour? Extra judicial killings add power to an already all powerful political entity...the police. They are ruled by a single goal. Personal enrichment.

It's too bad that every discussion of the Thai police has to turn to hate talk like this. I've been here 6 years, met quite a few of them and never had a adverse event with any of them. They also seem to be far less patronizing, annoying and petty than western police.Thailand is also far safer than most big cities in the USA, you're much less likely to be robbed, raped or murdered in Bangkok than Los Angeles or Detroit.

If you want to meet crooked cops, try Mexico, the cops there are every bit as bad as you describe.

If you snatch a gun from a cop you're heading into a whole different territory. Seeing as there was more than one police officer at the scene snatching the cops gun was either a) a last ditch attempt at some sort of escape or b) an easy way out to avoid a death sentence or a life spent under many moons doing some hardcore bang-up.

Police had no option but to return fire with the intent to kill. It's called the rules of engagement and, I'd bet the cops that shot him are very good at their aim.

And the cop who had his gun grabbed will probably never hear the end of it from his buddies.

The gun grab never happened or was choreographed, is my guess.

And, yes the Thai police merit distrust and hate.

Anybody remember the drug dealer extra-judicial killings in which many nonpushers were killed?

And you see the Thai police as having something to do with this?

Thai police ARE often robbing, raping and murdering thugs. And often demand payment from non-police who do the same.

    fuking wake-up.

well done; I hope you never get into a position where you get fitted up by an enemy then executed by the police

you can't cherry pick these things; if you encourage the police to act like this then they will also act in a similar fashion for private reasons (being paid, for instance)
    Dr.....you've got a good point...

but this isn't civilization...there is no justice here...

why is it that whole communities bend over backwards to neither take offence or give it....there is no justice...

    Unsurprising outcome.

RTP in Isaan often do away with local scum.

What goes around comes around. Even more so in Thailand, as most of us will know.

true to a point, justice can be corrupt in Thailand (also in the West although not so obviously usually) but encouraging extra-judicial killings can only make the situation worse
