Here is the video of the severed child. The first part shows the amputated legs, then sobbing onlookers, then next is the damage to the car, then the half-torso is removed and 'posed' for photographers, with the policeman holding the head up.

"The Porsche Cayman owner, Suppachai Thaksinthaweesap, 58, has contacted Pathum Thani police to ask for postponement of the date that he can bring the driver in, said Pol Lt Col Bancha Meelert who is in charge of the case.

Mr Suppachai told police the driver would surrender to police after he returns from a trip to pay homage to his ancestors during the Cheng Meng festival".

As far as I'm aware the Ching Ming festival doesn't start until somewhere around the end of next week, so why has he gone now? (Okay, we all know). Also, no mention of the exact date when he will return, only that an arrest warrant will be issued on Monday.
I truly hope there is such a thing as comeuppance, and he gets his by the bucketful.

We all know what is going to happen. The minute Suppachai had one of his 'high-ranking police officer' buddies call in on behalf of the absconding boy, we all knew how this was going to play out. The kid will eventually surrender privately to the police, will immediately be released 'on bail' to the family, the mother of the murdered child will accept a large, but unspecified, payoff and go back to Laos, and the 'case' will fade away. He's rich and connected; she was a poor foreigner. Nuff said.

Just watched that, glad I've already eaten.

How did the back window break?

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Simply nasty stuff.

I can't really understand the physics of it all though. The front of the car (bonnet, hood etc) looks undamaged, except front and rear windscreens shattered, and she is cut in half, almost neatly at the waist?

    The poor lass.

I guess there is going to be one cheap Porsche for sale now. I doubt any Thai will want it because of the bad spirits.

Looking at the pictures of the car, I would guess that roof panel acted like a knife after the windscreen was smashed.

apparently from the Nation Vid , link above , the police are suggesting that as the victim was Laotian she may have looked the wrong way and stepped out into the path of the vehicle ?

Even so the speed was obviously well over the top .

The fact that he killed the girl is not necessarily a crime, accidents happen, as it happened to me when I was about the same age, she could have been at fault.
The fact that fled the scene and this shows much about his character, or lack of it.

Speed limit on that road is 90K I think. That would probably do it.

I thought Porsches had better brakes than that though. !0KM to stop from traveling at 90KM per hour. Amazing.

Well obviously, unless someone is going to try and replicate it with animal carcases or something, we'll never know.

The fact she was cut in half only adds to horror of it, an impact at any speed can kill.

As she had only been here a few days, the question of did she look the wrong way is a possibility. If she did, then stepped out unawares, its then a question of was the driver unable to stop in time because he was exceeding the limit or not?

Driving off (although probably in shock and panicking), then running for his families protection is of course unforgivable.
