3 killed, 2 injured in Songkhla accident

Three people were killed and two others injured in an accident on the Asian Highway in Chana district of Songkhla province on Monday.

Police said the taxi, which was taking four female passengers from Pattani heading for Hat Yai district of Songkha, was running downhill and negotiating a curve in the rain before swerving off the highway and hit a tree.

Three female passengers were killed: Kwanruedee Kamchainont, a 20-year-old student of Hat Yai Commercial School, Masitoh Savetsophin, 40, a nurse of Thung Yang Daeng district hospital in Pattani, and Pongsri Waphet, 40.

Injured were Maroning Cheteh, 43, the taxi driver, and a female passenger Hamidoh Ipong, 26.
