Village chief murdered in Pattani

A village headman was killed in a drive-by shooting on the Napradu-Sai Khao road in tambon Sai Khao of Pattani’s Khok Pho district on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Arun Saithong, 48, was on his motorcycle heading to the district when he was attacked by gunman riding pillion on another motorcycle, Pol Lt Col Anusorn Chanklab of tambon Napradu police station said.

He was shot several tines in the body and pronounced dead soon after arriving at Khok Pho hospital.

Police blamed separatist militants.
