A Thai sex worker was found dead in a hotel room in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area yesterday after a suspected argument with a customer over money, police said.
The body of Aree Luijanteuk, 29, which had bruises to the head and face, was found at about 3.30am in a bathtub inside a PB Hotel room in Soi Sukhumvit 11, said Lt-Colonel Saruth Chanket of Lumpini Police Station.
There were signs of a struggle, and police found a used condom and two empty beer bottles.
Hotel clerk Chakkarin Ketlert, 24, told police that Aree had checked in for the temporary use of room with an Arab-looking man. Chakkarin said that at about 2.50am he and a housemaid knocked on their door to warn them that their time had run out and the man had replied that he wanted five more minutes to shower. The man left without Aree, who he claimed was taking a shower and would vacate the room later. Chakkarin later found the body and called police.
Police suspect Aree had a fight with her customer over the service price and was hit in the head before drowning in the bathtub, as an initial autopsy found foam in her nostrils. A full autopsy will be conducted soon, Saruth said.
