Spanish businessman raises funds to help Thai police

Spanish businessman raises funds to help Thai police

    By Deutsche Presse Agence

Madrid - A Spanish businessman has launched an internet campaign to raise funds to help Thai police combat crime against foreigners.

Barcelona businessman Jordi Guerrero said Tuesday that he became conscious of Thai police's lack of resources after a group of 12 people robbed him of 15,000 euros (21,500 dollars) at a Bangkok commercial centre in December 2008.
The robbers followed Guerrero, dropped papers on the floor to create confusion, and snatched the money from his pocket.
The Spaniard said security cameras recorded images of the robbers, but that Thai police did not have the means to analyse the images and to identify the suspects.
Guerrero said he had launched his campaign by handing over the first cent of the expected funds to the Thai embassy in Madrid.

    POR FAVOR!!!!!!!!!

I suppose they don't have corruption, lies or laziness in Madrid?

    Wow... Just wow.

Did not have the motivation-should have been offered a cut in any money recovered and they would have been off like a rat up a drain pipe, or should that be pig up a drain pipe?

Somebody should tell Senior Guerrero that the Thai police already have their own way of raising funds from tourists.

I completely agree with this Spanish businessman..

Sometime (when my wife allows ...) I, too, left one cent (in Thailand 1 Baht) tip in bar or restaurant, my way to let the staff know how much I think their service is worth !

I guess there is a point, the Thai police really do want to help, but they are so overwhelmed with work and underfunded... its sad, I know they would help, if they only had a little more money.

    patetico.

Thai Police are so busy raising funds and shooting tourists and some locals that they have no time for Law Enforcement as that is not their job,, They are BTW, Thai Royal Police, so they protect the royalty and pay no attention to the general public except to collect donations so they can protect royalty.
