2,000 police for Si Sa Ket election

About 2,000 policemen will be deployed during the June 28 by-election in Si Sa Ket's Constituency 1, according to Pol Gen Vichien Potposri, director of the Royal Thai Police Office's centre for maintaining law and order for elections.

Pol Gen Vichien said this large number of police is needed to ensure law and order because the constituency is large, covering nine districts with more than 900 polling units.

However, he believed there would not be untoward incidents since the competition in Si Sa Ket is not as fierce as in Sakon Nakhon.

The race is between candidates of Puea Thai and Chart Thai Pattana parties.
