World Cup gambling problems leads to necklace snatch in South Pattaya.
A necklace snatch now from South Pattaya which took place on Wednesday Night. Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutum was called to the front of the Ratanagorn Cloths Shop on Pattaya Second Road after receiving a complaint from Khun Sanan aged 26, who works at the shop. He had just been attacked by five men, one of which had stolen his 1 Baht weighted gold necklace from him. The suspected necklace thief was quickly caught and was identified as Khun Nigorn aged 25. He confessed to the theft and claimed that he had passed the necklace to one of the attackers who had fled the scene. It appears that Khun Nigorn conducted the initial theft and the four other men then set-upon the victim to prevent him from following them. Khun Barinyar aged 19 had taken the necklace but was caught on the Sukumvit Road in South Pattaya after his accomplice gave a description of him to Police. However, the necklace was nowhere to be found. The story took an interesting twist when Khun Barinyar claimed he swallowed the necklace as soon as he saw Police. The other three attackers could not be located. At Pattaya Police Station the two men claimed to have lost money gambling on England and the Czech Republic during the recent FIFA World Cup and had decided to turn to a life of crime to recoup their funds. Both have now been charged with theft and assault and Police are waiting for nature to take its cause so the gold necklace can be recovered.
