Foreign Man Caught on CCTV Breaking Into Pattaya Rescue Volunteer Booth

On May 20th, 2025, at 1:00 AM, Mr. Thawin Siangkong, a 21-year-old volunteer with the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Unit in Pattaya, filed a police report at the Pattaya City Police Station. Accompanied by CCTV footage and evidence of damaged items, he reported to Police Lieutenant Arthit Sonkhamhan, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), that an unidentified foreign man had broken into the rescue volunteer booth at the Chaiyaphruek checkpoint on Sukhumvit Road near Moo 12.

The suspect, described as a large-built European man of unknown nationality, was captured on CCTV prying open the booth’s sliding glass door and rummaging through the contents. The break-in resulted in significant damage, including a shattered glass door and a damaged defibrillator (electric shock device). The suspect fled the scene after the incident.

Mr. Thawin told reporters that the volunteers were responding to an accident call at the time of the break-in. Upon returning, they discovered the broken glass door and immediately reviewed the CCTV footage, which revealed the foreign man’s actions. He added that the suspect later returned to the area, but when confronted, he denied any involvement and refused to acknowledge the CCTV evidence. Feeling helpless, the volunteers reported the incident to the police, hoping the authorities would track down the suspect and hold him accountable for the damages.

“We’re just volunteers with no salary, sacrificing our time to help the community,” Mr. Thawin said, expressing frustration. “If the suspect doesn’t compensate us, we’ll have to cover the repair costs ourselves. It’s disheartening.”

The police are investigating and working to identify the suspect to pursue legal action.

when low level crime goes unpunished, as it now does in so many western countries, where the chances of getting caught are negligible and even if caught the penalties are laughable, offending becomes normal, second nature, especially if alcohol is added into the mix as it probably was in this case.

the guy needs taking round the back of the police station, given a good thrashing, made to pay for the damage and then sent to a thai jail for six months.

guaranteed the prick will never offend again.

    In principle, I agree.

But because police never take advantage or go overboard when doing that it just doesn't work anymore in this day and age.

Australian Man Arrested in Pattaya for Damaging Rescue Booth in Drunken Misunderstanding, Was On Almost a Year Overstay

A 51-year-old Australian man, identified as Mr. Nathan James Webber, was arrested on May 22nd, 2025, for damaging a rescue booth operated by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya.

According to authorities, Webber, heavily intoxicated at the time, allegedly vandalized the rescue booth near Soi Najomtien 8. Police investigations revealed that Webber, whose motorcycle had broken down near the booth, mistakenly believed someone was inside after hearing radio communications. Hoping to seek assistance, he attempted to enter the booth by forcing the door, shattering the glass in the process. Upon realizing the sounds came from a two-way radio and not a person, Webber left the scene, abandoning his motorcycle and mobile phone.

Following a review of CCTV footage, officers from the Pattaya Tourist Police, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Torlap Tinamat, Pol. Lt. Col. Supparat Meepreecha, and Pol. Maj. Apichart Jarurak, apprehended Webber at his residence in Soi Najomtien 8 at 4:06 p.m. on May 22nd. Webber confessed to the act, explaining that his intoxication led to the misunderstanding. He admitted to damaging the booth unintentionally while trying to seek help, but communication issues with rescue workers left the situation unresolved.

Further checks revealed that Webber had overstayed his visa by 343 days, making him an illegal resident in Thailand. He has been handed over to Pattaya City Police for legal proceedings, facing charges related to property damage and immigration violations. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure appropriate action is taken and following the legal proceedings will face deportation for his overstay.

Mr. Webber did not have a doppelganger as some presumed when he initially denied being the person seen on CCTV to rescue workers the night of the incident.

Oops. Oh well, he won’t be coming back to Thailand anytime soon. Perhaps Cambodia or Philippines.
