Phuket is experiencing continuous heavy rainfall, prompting local authorities to issue warnings for possible flash floods and rising water levels in key areas.

At approximately 08:30 A.M. yesterday morning on Monday (May 12th), the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office reported ongoing rain across various districts, including Mueang Phuket, Thalang, and Kathu. Officials are closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with local emergency response centers and municipal offices to ensure preparedness for potential flooding.

According to rainfall measurements taken at 07:00 A.M. at the Bang Niew Dam Station, the highest recorded accumulation within the past 24 hours reached 52 millimeters. Persistent rain has resulted in water pooling on roads and a significant rise in the Bang Yai Canal near Charter Intersection in Phuket City, where water levels are approaching critical limits.

Authorities have instructed district disaster response teams to remain on high alert and to provide assistance to affected residents as needed. Municipal workers are actively managing drainage systems to mitigate potential disruptions.

As of 10:27 this morning, the Phuket City Municipality reported that the water level in Bang Yai Canal had reached 1.71 meters. Officials stationed at water pumping facilities are monitoring the situation closely while accelerating drainage efforts to prevent overflow.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and stay updated through official warnings and announcements. Authorities continue to coordinate efforts to safeguard public safety amid the ongoing downpours.
