Russia went from being 2nd strongest army in the world to being the 2nd strongest in Ukraine
He would have come up through the ranks, private but did well and ended as a WO, promoted to Capt before retirement in the British Army, likely taken on as Maj in the Aus Army. In any case he was jock and he would have had an office as a WO 1st Class with his tartan covering his desk and loads of photos of his career through the years to remember his progress and point out to those entering he should get respect, that and the fact he could and probably has told UK Capt, Maj and Lt Cols to wind their fukin necks in.

what on earth are you blathering on about, you obtuse loon.
what exactly is the point you are trying to make? or is it just the boredom and approaching senility that fuels your bovine witlessness.
Post #9 was two days ago, tax, in his bovine witlessness cannot remember that far back.
That's kind of my point. The press reports are vague, no 'ah ha!' moment. They suggest motive (relationship issues, insurance claims) and opportunity (he was at or near the scene.) Then some drivel about the weather conditions. All highly circumstantial.
I'm not saying he is innocent. The prosecution have a case to prove and there are people like me who sit on juries who want to see some tangible evidence.
7News reported it like this:
Court documents now reveal that Davidson claimed a $264,000 life insurance payout just 18 days after Jacqueline’s death.
Davidson, who had been living in Thailand, was arrested earlier this week upon returning to Brisbane.
He now faces charges of murder, fraud, and attempted fraud.
Police allege his motive was linked to his attempts to collect life insurance claims following his wife’s death.
Less than three weeks after Jacqueline’s drowning, Davidson allegedly made a second claim for $950,000, though he never received the payout.
Detectives believe that a breakdown in the couple’s relationship may have contributed to the tragic incident.
Stop shifting the goal posts.
Your post said
“There must be some actual evidence to support a murder charge, I assume. It all seems circumstantial. Any … witnesses..?”
the article posted on post three says
“Detective Acting Inspector Steve Windsor from the Queensland Police said: "The cause of death was drowning but it was a case of talking to witnesses and gaining further evidence that the matter appeared suspicious.”
Yes, technically, everyone who stands up in court will be a witness. Probably there will be a witness who says it was a calm day on the lake. I was clearly talking of direct evidence, a witness to murder. Since the police made enquiries at the time of the death it seems unlikely that anyone claimed to have witnessed a murder.
This whole case seems to rest largely on the fraud charges, because he had the temerity to claim for insurance policies. That doesn't make him a killer. Although he might be.
I have insurance policies and I'll bet it won't take her as long as 18 days to file a claim when I pop off. That doesn't make her a killer. Although ....
They still have to prove it. The Major seems to be a slippery fella. Interesting how they just waited for him to roll back into Oz.
You seem to exclude the possibility of witnesses coming forward after the fact.
I doubt the police would have arrested and charged him murder without sufficient evidence which they now seem to have.
Police investigations and a report to the coroner have since uncovered further evidence, and a homicide probe was launched '18 months to two years' after her death.
