Three Russian nationals and one Indian national were arrested in Pattaya for working illegally as tour guides on January 4th, 2025.

The arrest took place after Pattaya police received intelligence that foreign nationals were illegally working as tour guides in the Pattaya areas.

The officers monitored the area around the passenger drop-off point at the Laem Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya. They then observed four foreign nationals exhibiting suspicious behavior, such as exchanging documents and assisting tourists by escorting them across to Koh Larn before returning to meet the next group.

The officers approached the suspects, identified themselves, and conducted a search, during which they found that the four suspects, including three Russian nationals and one Indian national, held tourist visas, which do not permit them to work in Thailand. Working as a guide is also not allowed for foreign nationals in Thailand even with a work permit, The Pattaya News notes.

The suspects were charged with “working without authorization” and were taken to the Pattaya Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings.
