On June 19th, 2024, Yisan police and highway police captured a pickup truck driver in Samut Songkhram who allegedly filled up with gas and fled from stations in three provinces.

The suspect, publicly identified only as 32-year-old Mr. Natthawut, was apprehended after a series of gas thefts. The incident that led to his capture occurred at 8:30 AM on June 16th, when Natthawut drove his modified pickup truck to a gas station on Rama 2 Road in Samut Songkhram. After filling up, he allegedly fled without paying, injuring an unidentified gas station employee who clung to the truck trying to stop Natthawut and fell, sustaining an arm injury.

Police investigations traced Natthawut’s mobile signal to his residence in Mueang, Samut Songkhram. An arrest warrant was issued by the Samut Songkhram Provincial Court.

Upon police arrival at his home, officers found a white pickup truck with a changed license plate. The suspect initially resisted arrest, attempting to flee by jumping into a canal and running into a nearby forest.

Despite his efforts, the police apprehended Natthawut, who was reportedly exhausted along with the pursuing officers. At Yisan police station, he confessed to fleeing from gas stations in Ratchaburi, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram on six occasions between June 6th and June 16th.

The Yisan police charged Natthawut with theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, evading police pursuit, and causing physical and mental harm to another person. Additionally, police officers from Bang Torad, Ban Phaeo, and Pak Tho police stations will take further legal action against him.
