19 students injured in road accident in Sa Kaeo

Nineteen students were injured, some of whom are in a serious condition, when a “Songthaew” school bus, in which they were travelling, was struck by a pickup truck in Wang Nam Yen district of Sa Kaeo province today.

Witnesses claim that the pickup was travelling at high speed in the opposite direction when it collided with the bus on Highway 3259 in Ban Nong Rua. The force of the impact forced the bus off the road and into roadside bushes. Several students were thrown out of the vehicle.

First responders, who arrived at the scene quickly, rushed the injured to hospital.

Police checked the pickup truck and found three bags containing 30,000 methamphetamine pills. They detained the driver for questioning.

Another vivid wee vignette illuminating daily life in this shithole.

19 school children packed like sardines into what is a glorified pig truck on their daily trip to school from their villages, a ramshackle vehicle for the poor that abides by no known safety measures in its construction or operation, are totalled by a drug courier fleeing in a vehicle which is beyond his skill to actually drive.

God, what an abortion of a country.

Two Students Dead, Others Seriously Injured After Drug Smuggler’s Crash in Sa Kaeo

On May 24th, 2024, Thai national media reported on the progress of a case involving a pickup truck driver allegedly smuggling 30,000 amphetamine pills. The driver accidentally crashed into a songthaew carrying 21 students in Wang Nam Yen, Sa Kaeo.

According to Wang Nam Yen police, two of the students later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. The pickup truck driver was captured at the scene by good citizens, while two female passengers who had fled were arrested by the police the following day.

Wang Nam Yen police also identified another individual involved in the drug smuggling operation.

Furthermore, two students remain in serious condition and were admitted to the ICU at Somdet Phra Yuppharat Sa Kaeo Hospital. While many students have been allowed to return home, students from various schools have reportedly donated blood to the hospital for the two critically injured victims due to a shortage of reserve blood.

The suspects, publicly identified as Mr. Virayuth (the pickup truck driver), Ms. Jintana, and Ms. Nittaya (the passengers), along with an unnamed accomplice, were escorted to Wang Nam Yen police station for further legal proceedings.
