Thread: Pattaya Woman Calls Taxi at 3 AM, Ends Up Driving Herself to Airport

A Thai woman in Pattaya has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a funny experience with a sleepy taxi driver.


In a video posted on May 21st, 2024, the woman, whose real name was not known, recounted how she called a taxi at 3 AM for a ride from Pattaya to Don Mueang International Airport, only to find herself behind the taxi’s wheel for most of the journey.


According to the woman, she noticed that the male taxi driver who came to pick her and her friend up appeared drowsy while driving. The driver even reportedly fell asleep briefly at some point after starting the trip, so the woman decided to politely ask the driver if she could take over driving.

As it appeared in the video, the driver agreed to let the woman drive and excused himself to the back seat to sleep. The woman’s friend filmed their bizarre experience before posting it on TikTok, joking “We drove ourselves from Pattaya all the way to Don Mueang Airport, with the driver sleeping soundly behind us.”

The clip, which you can see here from Channel 7, has gone viral on TikTok. Many viewers expressed their understanding of the woman’s decision to take the wheel, while some criticized the taxi driver for being unprofessional.


It is not known as of press time if any sort of law enforcement or relevant agency will be looking into the driver sleeping or even if it violates any laws.

Berlin - Michael Schumacher may well be the fastest taxi driver in Germany after the seven-times world champion shocked a cab driver by taking over the wheel in order to be on time for a flight.
Schumacher, 38, flew into the aerodrome at the Bavarian town of Coburg on Saturday and took a taxi to the village of Gehuelz, 30 kilometres away, to pick up a new puppy - an Australian Shepherd dog called "Ed".
But when the former Formula One ace, plus his wife and two children, caught a taxi back to the airport they were short on time and, after a polite request, cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz watched in wonder as Schumacher took the wheel.
"I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have 'Schumi' behind the wheel of my cab was incredible," Mr Yilmaz told the Muenchner Abendzeitung.
"He drove at full throttle around the corners and over-took in some unbelievable places."
Mr Yilmaz was well rewarded for the unusual journey - on top of the 60 euros (US$88) fare, he was also given a 100 euros (US$146) tip.
Schumacher's spokesperson Sabine Kehm later confirmed the story.

I stopped riding in vans after a few of us had to punch the driver to wake him up. STAY OUT OF VANS! Sleepy drivers are a plague in Thailand.
