^^Someone mentioned before the traffic lights haven’t worked in years. Judging by the photo in that link, it’s a free for all.

I think it is possible white SUV driver didn’t see the scooter because of the car on his left. The scooter would then just popped out as SUV was cruising through the intersection without stopping.

And how many natives would know that? And even if they did few, if any, would comply.

Sixty years ago most were still swinging through the canopy or riding a fucking kwai.

I'd imagine even the police wouldn't know. Would be interesting to know the ending to this story.

I didn't say no license needed, not sure about that.

It's anecdotal, but a friend of a friend died last year after driving a pickup over one on a dark country road.

The rider was thrown clear but the pickup t-boned a tree.

The pickup driver of course was pissed as a fart and the old bill decided no further action was required, even though apparently the rider should have not have been on the road.

The Thais had their usual wail, funereal piss up and life went on.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

About the same length of time it feels that you've been posting and reposting that stupid sentence.

Isn't that what the insurance company is supposed to be for?

Yes, unless of course you fail to meet the T&C's of the policy, such as "abiding by traffic laws".

So, the major thoroughfare has to give way to the minor street ?

no, but in a civilised society the driver of a car should be giving way to an old person on a mobility type scooter, it doesnt matter what type of road he is on, in the same way that motorists usually give way to pedestrians in civilised societies. its polite and considerate and shows a modicum of consideration for someone less fortunate than themselves.

but this is thailand where thai men often display selfish and inconsiderate traits, seemingly as a badge of honour, but put them behind the wheel of a large vehicle, well any vehicle in fact, and they automatically turn their intolerance, their aggression and their selfish behaviour up to 11.

    Hardly stupid, dear boy.

In 1964 the tallest building in Bangkok was a temple, and over 80% of the population lived in the bush.

Gotta love these bullshit factoids he makes up to bolster his weary case with. As bad as backspin…and as stupid.

Here’s one source that says otherwise.

    JSTOR: Access Check

Roughly 6 million urban population (over half in Bangkok) of a population of ~26M

I know you are only a worn out, raddled old tefler approaching terminal senescence, but even a drivelling old simian fart can work out basic percentages.

According to the World Bank open data store urban occupation as a percentage of total population in 1960 was 20%.
    So, 20% deducted from 100% leaves ………….?

    Now fuck off.

If it's that open you'll be able to provide a link, surely?

That absurd claim just points towards so much that has filled your later years with such unremitting misery.

They were available for a necklace of shells just a decade before you were ready, eh.

The four years difference is nugatory to the fact: 23% of the Thai population in the early 1960s lived in urban areas, leaving a remainder of 77% swinging from the trees in fucking boonies, you gormless septic.

Christ what is it with you fuckwits.

That could open up whole new areas of depravity that sa has previously been excluded from.

    Geographically.

You fatuous blue collar oik, that’s the fucking point. These simpletons were all swinging through the trees only 60 years ago and consequently they have not had the time to become civilised and master the rudiments of mechanised travel, you dumb septic.

    Christ, keep up.
