Now is the time to get a solar set up, it'll never be cheaper - bask in all day aircon, even have an outside one blowing down on your deck chair and ensuring your ice in your margherita doesnt melt too quickly

I gotta say MK. It is hot. As long as humidity stays low its like Las Vegas to me. Forecast doesn't show cooling down anytime soon.

After about 11am it's just to darnn hot to be doing anything outside short of swimming and having beer.

Cheers Cyrille, but let me just say, the water temp is borderline not refreshing at all. Everything is becoming saturated with heat. Only thing cold is the beer and that works.

I dont like living AC so leave my partner to her ac boudoir for a bit.Heading to Snowdonia next week where its 9 in day and just above freezing at night!!

Will be buying a "serious thermal vest and sweater in London" will try post some pix of chilly sheep in due course.

^ Yep, left the soaring temps of NE Thailand to a cold and snowy Germany. We both prefer the cold to that heat, 38 at 10a.m. was a bit much.

Electricity use hit new high Monday night as Thailand continues to swelter

Thailand set a new record for electricity consumption at 8.58pm on Monday night, when 35,830 megawatts of electricity were consumed, according to the Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (OERC).

Based on reports from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and the Provincial Electricity Authority, the OERC said that the last record was at 9.41pm on May 6 last year, when 34,826 megawatts were consumed.

More new records may be set in the coming days, if the already scorching weather gets even hotter.

The Energy Policy and Planning Office had already predicted electricity consumption will increase this year and may exceed 35,000 megawatts, as it now has.

Power consumption records set in April are:

33,340 megawatts at 9 pm on April 1
33,827.1 megawatts at 8.51 pm on April 2
34,196.5 megawatts at 9 pm on April 4
34,277.4 megawatts at 10.22 pm on April 5
34,656.4 megawatts at 8.54 pm on April 6
35,830.0 megawatts at 8.58 pm on April 22
Today, the Meteorological Department forecast hot weather across the country, especially in northern provinces, where temperatures are forecast reach 44oC.

Maximum temperatures in central and north-eastern provinces will reach 39oC to 42oC, while Bangkok and its vicinity will bask in a cosy 41oC.

Members of the public are advised to stay in-doors and to avoid working or performing other activities outdoors.

Get everything you need to do outside done right after the sun comes up. Get any cooking done soon after. Stay indoors with the air conditioning on doing the couch potato thing from 11AM!

I looked at solar AC here 10 years or so ago, the company was just too unreliable to deal with - probably worked out for the best.
If I'm reading the specs correct the heat we are having now is too much for solar panels? Then where do you store the batteries - its far too hot for storing batteries and getting any life out of them.
My superblock house is also 33c, probably get a little hotter as no rain or break in the weather forecast for at least a week.
Feel for the locals, the average house must be 40c+ inside, my workshop/store is getting to 37c+ daily, built from superblock and insulated roof, locals don't have that luxury...
A cold shower after a dip in the hot pool would be dam pleasant, but that aint going to happen, city water near to boiling!

    Cool
    Or at least cooler

Tuesday evening on the coast, a sunset and a full moon; small roadside market, dinner on the seawall at Paknam Khaem Nu, entertainment provided by five Brahminy Kite sea eagles circling and swooping in for fish.
    It's a simple life.
Sea temperate is apparently 30.95C - unsure how far out they go to measure that but feels warmer inshore for swimming.

Unfortunately solar for private use has just not panned out to be viable and low maintenance. Most panels need replacement in 2 to 3 years in high sun environments and then the battery storage to sustain the stored power presents its own dangers and cost. The last time I looked for home use, the ROI is 8+Years assuming the panels and batteries don't take a shit more frequently. That does not include the personal management the owner has to take and oversee.

While it all sounds GREAT at a high level, it really is a pain in the ass to maintain. Solar for outdoor lighting and small captive type applications is very good and I use them around my place.

Energy costs here are not that bad. That's my humble opinion.

    Agree 100%
Keep looking at break even on either type of solar, still little incentive with cheap electric.

Family in the Philippines report 43°C. They don't go out during the day. Old people are hit hard.
