Four People Injured in Brawl Between Vendors at Pattaya Bali Hai Pier

Four people were injured, one seriously, in a brawl between vendors at the Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya on Wednesday morning, April 17th, 2024. The brawl also involved a knife.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 AM at the parking lot within the Bali Hai Pier area in South Pattaya. Rescue workers quickly responded to the scene after receiving a report from concerned citizens nearby.

Upon arrival, the rescuers found four injured victims identified as Mr. Wanchai Khanthavit, 51, who was stabbed in the left rib, causing his intestines to rupture, Mr. Watchai Khanthavit, 31, the son of the first victim, who was stabbed in the left armpit, Mr. Kecha Lumpha, 56, and Mr. Marut Lumpha, 30, who both sustained bruises from punches.

All four victims were taken to Pattaya City Hospital for treatment. Mr. Wanchai is reportedly in serious condition as of press time.

According to witnesses, two groups of vendors argued over spots to sell goods to tourists waiting to travel to Koh Larn from the pier. The verbal argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with one unidentified vendor pulling out a knife and stabbing another.

The brawl was captured on video by a bystander, showing Mr. Watchai trying to help his father, Mr. Wanchai, and getting stabbed in the process. Pattaya police are currently investigating the incident and have identified the suspect. They are reviewing CCTV footage and pursuing the suspect(s).

    Chimps and their territory, eh.

At least the ambulance guys didn't go at with machetes and homemade guns over who gets to transport them to the hospital, like in Bangkok.

Must be more civilized down Pattaya way.

In my experience the Thai are the most savage people I have come across as a society who habitually and pathologically use violence as a means of communication to resolve disputes and confrontations leading to them.

Scarcely surprising really, sixty years ago the greater proportion of the population were still swinging through the canopy or grubbing about in their dirt like snuffling pigs rootling for a mouthful.

I daresay it is your upbringing and poor education, but, somewhat typically, you have misunderstood the thrust of my post. Whether it be tribal, personal, familial or simply ontological, the Thai use violence as a means of communication among all strata of their society and on a systemic basis.

The English are similarly afflicted but usually the phenomenon is confined to the very lower end, a demographic with which you are evidently well acquainted.
