On April 16th, 2024, Sadao police officers received a report of a man being beheaded at a residence on a rubber plantation in Sadao, Songkhla.

The Sadao investigative and forensic police were dispatched to the incident scene and found the headless body of a man in a kitchen, publicly identified only as Mr. Wichai, the 56-year-old owner of the residence. Wichai’s head was by his side. It was assumed that Wichai had been deceased for at least four days.

According to the police report, there was a machete handle near the body, and a machete which appeared to have been cleaned was found at a toilet nearby. The forensic officers collected them as evidence for further DNA verification to help determine the suspect.

Upon further investigation, Wichai reportedly was a rubber planter and lived with his son, publicly identified only as Mr. Thiwathorn, 33. It was reported that before the police’s arrival, Thiwathorn reportedly left the house via a motorbike before being escorted by locals to police officers for interrogation.

Thiwathorn reportedly told the police that four days ago, he stayed at his mother’s house in another subdistrict and recently went to his father’s house on April 16th. He allegedly cooked for his father and stayed the night. He claimed he had nothing to do with the violent crime.

However, the police found doubts and contradictions in Thiwathorn’s story in correlation with the facts found on the incident scene as Wichai was reportedly dead for at least four days.

Initially, the police escorted Thiwathorn and three of his friends to the Sadao police station for a thorough interrogation. It was reported that Thiwathorn had a medical record of being a psychiatric patient.
