Thread: Russian Tourist Topples Over Seven Power Poles in Phuket Car Accident

A Russian tourist crashed his car and toppled over seven power poles in Phuket.


The accident occurred on Saiyuan Road in Rawai, Phuket, on March 29th, 2024. The 30-year-old Russian tourist, who could not be immediately identified, was driving a red-plated sedan when he lost control and crashed into a power pole. The car then spun several times and hit several other vehicles and buildings.

Seven power poles were knocked down in the accident, and five cars and motorcycles were damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured.


Phuket police said the tourist would be charged with damaging public property and causing damage to other people’s property. The officers are also waiting for the results of a blood alcohol test to determine if the tourist was drunk driving.


Local residents commented that the tourist was driving very fast before the accident.

I wonder if it was after dark? They can chuck a red plate charge on there for good luck.

Poles and Russians never really got along.

Seven! That is impressive by anyone's standards. Even in a fully loaded sugarcane truck with no brakes I'd struggle to get seven.

it says a lot about PEAs lack of engineering/construction skills that an unloaded pickup truck, (because it looks like a pick up and not a sedan) itself quite a flimsy lightweight projectile, can bring down 7 concrete poles so easily.
