Thread: Man Arrested after Stabbing Bartender to Death in Phuket

In a tragic incident near Phuket Old Town, a man has been arrested after fatally stabbing a bartender in front of a bar. The Phuket City Police received notification of the incident at 4:30 A.M. on Thursday morning (March 28th). The altercation occurred at an unidentified bar and restaurant located on the Takua Pa Road in the Talad Nuea sub-district near Phuket Old Town.


The victim, Mr. Manoch Kamkaew, aged 31, sustained severe injuries from three stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Manoch was tragically pronounced dead.

On the same day, Region 8 Police apprehended the prime suspect, Mr. Apisit Eiamaksorn, whose age was not disclosed, in Trang. During the arrest, authorities seized a knife that Mr. Apisit had allegedly hidden in his unidentified friend’s apartment.


According to reports, Mr. Apisit was riding a motorbike when a group of restaurant staff signaled for him to stop. He engaged in conversation with an unidentified man who happened to be his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. Mr. Manoch, a staff member at the restaurant, intervened to prevent an argument. Allegedly, Mr. Manoch then struck Mr. Apisit’s head with a bottle. In what he claims was self-defense, Mr. Apisit then used a knife, unintentionally, according to Apisit, resulting in the fatal outcome.


The Phuket City Police have charged Mr. Apisit with bodily assault causing death and carrying a knife in public without a proper reason. Apisit has admitted to the act of stabbing Manoch but continues to profess that it was in self-defense, which will likely see the matter decided by a judge in a Thai court.
