Charlie in Chiang Mai - selling everything from cocaine to mushrooms

Brit of the day, 'Charlie' in Chiang Mai

British dealer selling everything from cocaine to mushrooms
    12 March 2024 19:52

Chiang Mai police have arrested a 48-year-old British man Mr. Charlie, after being informed that he was selling drugs to tourists in Chiang Mai.

At a marijuana dispensary in central Chiang Mai officers brought 110,000 baht in cash to purchase 12.5 grams of cocaine, 14.7 grams of ketamine, 192 grams of buffalo mushrooms, 13 grams of LSD, MDMA 9.8 After the drugs were handed over he was arrested.

Police searched his condominium in Chang Phueak, and drugs were found hidden in the room.

The seizure contained 408 grams of cocaine, 595 grams of buffalo mushrooms, and 160 psychotropic substances (Diazepam and Alprazolam).

The accused was detained for further investigation. He confessed to selling drugs, having bought the drugs from a black man for 800,000 baht and selling them for profit to other tourists through the Telegram application.

The accused said that it was the first time but the police did not believe it because the investigation revealed that the accused used to use a student visa to enter Thailand and had a history of selling drugs in the Bangkok area.

Another Brit druggie. What’s the bet he came here on holiday once, then got a student visa to stay longer. Dabbled in teaching for a bit, selling and consuming drugs on the side until he graduated as a full time drug dealer?

    it’s a well worn pathway.

*not every Brit and not every teacher is a drug dealer, peado or chancer before the usual suspects jump to their defence.

    It's quite the investment

having bought the drugs from a black man for 800,000 baht
Not my specialist topic, but the amounts are above average I'd have thought.

He may be here for some time with those quantities.

The Nation has the story now

Briton arrested for selling drugs to tourists
    WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2024

Chiang Mai police on Tuesday arrested Briton Charly Garcia, 48, in a sting operation at a shop selling cannabis products in Muang district, following a complaint that a foreign national has been selling drugs to foreign tourists visiting the northern province.

Police said the suspect admitted to reselling the drugs to tourists via the Telegram app, adding that he had bought all items except the magic mushrooms from a black man in Chiang Mai for 800,000 baht. Garcia said that he bought magic mushrooms from another foreigner in Pai district of Mae Hong Son province at 20 baht per gram.

Garcia was charged with possessing and selling narcotics in categories 1 (LSD, MDMA, ketamine), 2 (cocaine, alprazolam), 4 (diazepam), and 5 (magic mushrooms).

Hahaha. Enjoy your stay "Charlie". That comfortable cell with 10 or so others and rice 3 times a day must have been worth the risk.

Imagine when his family and friends see that pic. Bunch of "professional" DEA types in various T shirts hooking up that silly fool. Proud moment for all back home. If they do it right, they could do a nice 11 x 14 and frame it and mount on the wall with the family photos above the fire place insert.

You nauseatingly sanctimonious petit bourgeois, semi detached suburban bore, what’s he done to you. Chap was earning an honest living selling a desirable product to willing buyers and contributing to Thai GDP.

You vindictive, mean minded septic moron, you’re no more than a walking cliche.

A one stop shop. Appears he had a thriving profitable biz. My guess too profitable so local drug dealers contributed to the bib's retirement fund to shut him down. Happens everywhere, everyday in the LoS.

No Sympathy at all SA...Zip...None.. Zero! Why? because the guy is an idiot. If you are a foreigner and you come to SEAsia and you decide that selling drugs to keep your extension to stay in place is a good risk free form of generating income, you are stupid. So when they get caught..... As I said.. "Enjoy your stay".

Well the other thing as well Norts, When you sell a vast selection of drugs, that means you have a large clientele list and its just a matter of time before someone talks it up. "I know a guy who knows a guy" deal then the police get wind and its over.

It's more like 180 other prisoners sleeping on their sides, spoon fashion, so they can all fit in the cell.
