Temperatures predicted to exceed 40 degrees next week

Temperatures are expected to surpass 40 degrees Celsius in several provinces next week, as tomorrow the “heat index” is expected to reach 48.1 degrees in Bangkok and 51.4 degrees in Chon Buri, according to Somkuan Tonjan, head of the Central Weather Forecast Division of the Meteorological Department.

The Heat index, also known as the apparent temperature. is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature. This has important implications for the body’s comfort.

Two weeks after Thailand officially entered the dry season, Somkuan said that temperature has already reached 39 degrees or 40 degrees in some provinces and is forecast to reach 41 degrees in Lampang, Uthai and Lop Buri provinces next week.

Temperature is expected to reach 44.5 degrees in some provinces before the end of the hot season in mid-May, he said.

    Today’s heat indices are:

9 degrees in the northern region
1 degree in the central region
6 degrees in the eastern region
5 degrees in the southern region

Heat indices for tomorrow are forecast as:

6 degrees in the northern region
4 degrees in the north-eastern region
1 degree in the central region
1 degree in the eastern province of Chon Buri
3 degrees in the southern region

Meanwhile, Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, vice dean of the Faculty of Fisheries at Kasetsart University, warned today that corals in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea are in risk of massive bleaching in the next three months, as the sea temperature has risen by 1 degree this year, compared to last year.

Real-time sea temperature measured at the station in Si Racha has already exceeded 31 degrees, which is the warmest ever recorded, he said.

He also said that coral bleaching has already affected corals in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, covering a distance of 1,000 km.

He said seagrass and the ecological system will also be harmed, as well as plankton blooms, which will affect fishing, aqua culture and tourism.

It's surprising that Dr. Thon has to go as far away as the Barrier Reef for an example of coral bleaching.

Oh my SA will have another excuse to never leave his condo and curtain twitch with his Wingnut partner.

It's just after noon and 37c here. I fully expect 39c or above in the coming weeks.

Just spend more time in the pool.

The “ feel like “ temperature here in Pattaya is exacerbated by the humidity which often exceeds Bangkok most times of the day. For e.g. today it is 52% in Bangkok, here in Pattaya around 69%.

But temperatures are much lower, Pattaya 32c whereas Bkk is 35c.

    Humidity is a fucker.

This to shall pass soon. Was out on my daily evening walk in the rice field when I heard a voice.

"Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch."

Anyone know where I can buy some gopher wood?

This period of the year in SEA was just getting too horrendous for me to enjoy any sort of outdoor activity/ life. I'm looking forward to 7 months of sun, rain and average temperatures. Fuck ever living in SEA again March to August.

Don't worry, I enjoy making you look like a clown. The UK from March to September is basically sun, rain and average temperatures. SEA from March to September is basically sun, then sun and rain and all the while oven like temperatures.

Someones still upset about not having a life or any options, boohoo waawaawaa. Maybe you should write a book entitled, 'Waa'.

PS. Surely you can afford to get a phone with a camera.....

    Whatever one fancy

In my opinion you can't beat spring and summer in Northern Europe.

I understand folks who see it differently

    I agree.

The last few years in LOS, I was really getting tired of the inability to go and do stuff outdoors for months on end.

Wife reporting it at 39.8C today and she and the dogs very unhappy with the heat. Pepsi (the stray) gets the cool tiles of my kitchen floor as a reward for being a puppy.

I suffer from my feet swelling in this type of heat so try not to be around in March/April. Anyone else have the same problem and a good cure? I normally rest my feet in a bucket of iced water at the end of the day to try and reduce the swelling. I manage to drink about 1 1/2 litres of water a day but I guess the couple of beers a day doesn't help.

^ You're right, not enough, but I've never been that good at taking in water. Leak is clear, but not often enough. Problem is 3-4 litres and I feel like I'm going to drown!

Excessive consumption of water can be as unhealthy as too little with one of the pitfalls being swelling cells including those in the brain. Reading some of your posts I rather think you should cut down a bit.

Troy, oedema in your ankles and feet etc is because you are variously a fat bastard, a lazy, slothful bastard, an ageing bastard or possibly a combination of all three.
