Rarely see north americans mentioned in Misskit's newsflashes about degenerate behaviour.

    Why ?

1.Do we have a biased news caster ?

2.Don't american scum travel much ?

3.Do they smash their glasses in Cancun ?

4.Or they are simply better behaved ?

    I'll take number 4

Only a small percentage of Americans hold passports. Those who do, have used travel to broaden their horizons and their interest in other cultures.

Idiots still make up a percentage of those who travel from all corners of the globe. Then titled attitude of some passport holders, is not confined to any one nationality. I have met very few Americans during my time in Asia, but in fairness, most of them seem quiet, sensible and fairly reserved in attitude. That is not something likely to be said about other nationalities.

Ther are always exceptions to any general observation, but if the idiot Trump is elected, a great many more yanks will depart their homeland.

Air travel is now too expensive for low life travelers to visit Asian tourist destination, so in future, your ire may be leveled at the nouveau riche, coming from China, India and the Middle East.

@helge - aside from what Switch said (that only a few % of Americans have passports), most of the young Americans (who travel) go to Mexico and other Lat-Am countries for their spring break & other adventures. The "passport bros" go to Eastern Europe (and some go to PH) for their "walkabouts". Lots of older white men in Angeles, Olongapo, Cebu and Dumaguete cities (in PH).

The young white foreigners that I've encountered in my travels (hostels, trains, buses, etc) have been mainly European. Some even wore elephant pants & "friendship bracelets".

zThere is a definite connection between US visitors and residents, which occurs due to historic occupation, (or whatever you like to call it) by US armed forces. Many stayed on or returned there when they finished service. It’s one of the reasons the English language is spoken mostly with an American accent, by those who were tutored by ex servicemen.

There are indeed a huge diaspora of Americans that spent some time on shore leave while in the navy and enjoyed olongapo/ subic so much at the end of there 20 years in
they retired on a decent pension and made the Philippines there retirement home. A no brainer one would think. As far as the Filipinos American accent goes , I think they would be better off with an aussie accent

^not too many Aussie TV/ movie stuff available on PH airwaves to copy the twang, mate. Lots of Hollywood stuff to copy the US accent from.

Though my niece had a slight Aussie accent when she was 4 or 5 yrs old. She watched DVDs of Hi-5 (Aussie Kids show).

    @ Katie

I was kind of having a "be nice, Helge" moment

Switch and you has presented it much nicer and more diplomatic, than I would be able to.

Still, our american first cousin singles or couples, doesn't take up much space in the thai gossip media.

    So

Well behaved in Thailand for now

    (talking tourists here )

I would say #3 and #4 both. Americans here in the states seem to be generally shittier than the ones i have met while in Asia...cost and difficulty in travel (and "foreigness") seem to act as a fliter. but yeah, there seems to be a lot more douchebag Americans in Mexican resorts than in Thailand from my observation. So much cheaper to go to Mexico. Hell, it would be cheaper for me to fly to Mexico to get fucked up for a weekend and enjoy TnA for sale, than it is to fly to Vegas (a 1 hour flight) and get fucked up for a weekend. Fear of losing one's head or hanging from a bridge doesn't deter the Carvival Cruise crowd.
