Anti-narcotics police have seized almost 12 million meth pills in two separate incidents in the northern provinces of Nakhon Phanom and Phichit today (Wednesday).


In the first incident, police laid in wait at a road checkpoint in Nakhon Phanom until a car, which matched the specifications in an investigative report, showed up. They stopped the car for a search and uncovered about 4.8 million meth pills hidden in the trunk.


The car’s driver, identified only as “Thirayuth”, and his female companion Boonruang, reportedly told the police that they were about to deliver the drugs to a customer in Saraburi province.


In the second incident, police intercepted a pickup truck on Highway 111 in Mueang district of Phichit province. The driver got out of the vehicle and fled, abandoning the vehicle on the road. Police found 6.7 million meth pills.


The car’s driver, identified only as “Natthanon”, was later arrested by the police in a swamp, after he had hidden there for a couple of hours.
