Loy Krathong was ages ago and you fools are still arguing vaccines. The covid thread is that way ---->
Yep some places allow you to show proof of vaccination or a negative test.
Yes, the efficacy goes down over time — thus the need for boosters.
There will likely be better vaccines available in the future.
You're waiting for those, perfect ones?
Meanwhile, your chances of dying or being hospitalized are 10-20 times higher without a vaccine — of course.

Exclusive: Prof Sir Andrew Pollard says most of those infected who are fully vaccinated will experience only mild symptoms
Your limited experience v verified data.

If we accept that the 3rd world continents have had less access to vaccines and have poor/non-existent health services available to them, than the advanced "western continents", including all G7 countries.
As is suggested daily here on TD.
The "numbers" graphically illustrate, that the developed "western continents", have had much poorer performance, numbers of cases and deaths, in comparison with the 3rd world continents? Canada being the most efficient of the G7.
Graphs are Asia, Africa, the 3rd world continents. Europe and North America, the advanced "western" countries.
China is included because it is allegedly a 3rd world country and has an allegedly poor/non-existent health service.
Plus the fact that China has been able, with its home produced vaccine, it's citizens acceptance, it's "socialism with a Chinese twist" government and its ability to reopen its industries, to show the world the way forwards, in this particular crisis.
Thailand is included as it is where I am currently. Which is also, by some TD posters, accused of failing its citizens during the crisis.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
Allegedly indeed because it certainly is not 3rd world and it's health care system is damn good. I lived in 2 locations over 3 years in China and unlike Thailand I recieved a bit of health care there at same cost of a Chinese citizen.
I am one of them and stick to it. They have failed as have the other countries above in your post.

You didn't get what I meant entirely, vaccination by itself doesn't clear you from being infectious, so why a proof of vaccination should grant you access like an actual proof of not being currently infected? Looks like they're rewarding compliance, not doing actual prevention.Quote Originally Posted by Farang Ky Ay View Post

Regarding waning efficiency of the vaccines, problem is to convince people to get the shots of not fully studied vaccines, they told them they'll be protected (>95%), that they then could "go back to normal"...now they're told they need a 3rd shot, tomorrow it may be a fourth, and no they didn't get back to normal... It's not as if the strategy of a vaccine against a rapidly evolving virus hasn't be debated before, better focus on cure than vaccines unless there's a major breakthrough that will make them efficient in time and against new variants.
Regarding hospitalisations and ICU, you need to take other things into account - mostly age and existing conditions - then you can see a sur-representation of people over 75 (didn't get the numbers for people already having health issues).
Worst, I just read that in the UK double vaccinated people are the majority of covid patients in hospital, while unvaccinated are about 35%...need to ponder that against the respective weight of vaccinated / unvaccinated people in UK population, but still.
Most people admitted to hospital with Covid-19 are vaccinated - Full Fact
Hence my "wait and see" stance, my lifestyle, age and health condition allow me to do that, I'm not saying "don't do it", on the contrary do it if you fear for your safety but I don't totally get it when either those people or authorities tell me to do the same (without any liabilities if something goes wrong btw) as the past months taught me they don't really know either, what was true 6 months ago according to preliminary data isn't necessarily accurate today so yeah maybe be less adamant, admit there's unknown and adjust your decision according to latest data, research results etc...and not restrict rights on a false idea

It's still a Lot Krathong thread you fucking idiots.
The endless shite about covid and the benefits or not of vaccines and/or masks. If you can keep it in one place I can fucking avoid it.
In case you hadn’t noticed, The OP is about requiring a Covid test and vaccination proof at the event.
That is what spurred the current discussion.
Don’t worry, Armstrong: king Willy and panama hat will be along soon for you to play with.
Haven't you seen video of life in America — like at university football games with crowds packed together, not wearing masks?
Life IS going back to normal, thanks to the vaccines.
Like mentioned, you not wanting to get vaccinated is your prerogative — thankfully most people around the world don't think like you.
I think I saw you make a post (yes, my memory is as good as yours and much, much better) a few days ago saying at some point life needs to get back to normal.
No, they are fully vaccinated and young and getting on with life.
Would you suggest they don't?
grumpy old man (snide little shit)?
I was suggesting that you were over-generalising.
I'll leave it there as you're obviously upset about something.
btw - the thread is about Loy Kratong and COVID restrictions.
