5 Herbal Medicines Are Added to National List of Essential Medicinal Herbs

BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Drug System Development Board has published a notification in the Royal Gazette stating that it has added five herbal medicines to Thailand’s National List of Essential Medicinal Herbs, in order to drive and promote the use of herbal medicines in the health service system.

The five medicines are Thamlai Phra Sumen, hemorrhoid relief pills, Andrographis paniculata extract pills that contain andrographolide not less than 4 per cent by weight (w/w), Andrographis paniculata extract and powdered Andrographis paniculata.

The board said the medicines from Andrographis paniculata herbs, such as Andrographis paniculata extract and powdered Andrographis paniculata, can be used to treat COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms.

Andrographis paniculata is widely cultivated in South and Southeast Asia. The whole plant, or its roots and leaves, have traditionally been used to treat bacterial infections and some other diseases.

I've used Andrographis (king of bitter) for about 15 years now. Can attest this is a very good medicine. I "cools" down any kind of inflammation you might have in your body. That includes tooth-ache etc. It is perfect for flu like symptoms. But..... it works slower that conventional medicine. Feeling a flu coming up: I will take 4 to 5 capsules at a time. If it is mild "flu feeling" I will take it twice daily for 2 to 3 days. usually feel fit after 1.5 day from starting kob (king of bitter). When it is strong, taking every 4 hours a dose of 4 to 5.

This is of course no medical advice as I am only describing my personal experience. There are warning to be found about this medicine for not taking it for a too long period, as it gives too much "yin" to the body. always keep a balancing act. To this, I have to add, that during a work-trip, I was having an ear-infection which was very persistent. I've used kob for 6 weeks in row, twice daily (at least) with no noticeable side effects.
