Thread: Phuket to reopen conditionally to visitors on Monday

Thailand’s popular resort island of Phuket will reopen to outsiders on Monday, to coincide with the third phase of the easing of lockdown restrictions.


Phuket Governor Pakkapong Thaweepat said that the his administration has sought approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand to reopen Phuket International Airport to domestic flights, and will resume maritime services at 24 of the island’s piers, beginning Monday.


Sarasin Bridge, the land gateway to Phuket Island at Tha Chatchai, will also be reopened for access to and from the island.


There are, however, still some restrictions in force. Visitors to Phuket from Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Narathiwat, and from provinces where new infections have been reported in the past 28 days, will be required to enter 14-day home quarantine, unless the visitor will remain on Phuket for less than three days.


The provincial prison will also reopen for visits from June 8th.
