Chinese vaccine arrives in Hungary, a first in the EU

    2021-02-17 08:43

"A shipment of 550,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses developed by China's Sinopharm Tuesday reached Budapest, capital of Hungary, making it the first of the EU to receive a Chinese vaccine. The shipment is enough to treat 275,000 people with the two-dose jab, Dr. Agnes Galgoczy of the National Public Health Center told a press conference."

No prosthodontist would ever admit to making those. Looks like the work of a very unskilled would be dentist - Tax comes to mind

the nz prime minister has what would appear to be from the photograph natural teeth, but with an Angles Class 2 div 1 malocclusion.

had this bothered her more than it seems to bother the idiot iceman123, it could have been easily rectified by extraction of some upper premolars followed by orthodontic re-alignment of her upper teeth.

COVID vaccinations for everyone in Thailand

BANGKOK: Everyone in Thailand – Thais and foreigners, including migrant workers – will have access to quality and safe COVID-19 vaccines, a government spokesperson said on Thursday (Feb 18).

The assurance was given during the daily Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration briefing at Government House, by assistant spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangson.

Everyone in the country, including foreigners, would have access to vaccines, she said.

    Further from your link:

"“Vaccinations will include expatriates and migrant workers. The government intends to offer equal protection,” she said.

According to Dr Apisamai, the government has three objectives for COVID-19 vaccination.

To reduce COVID-19 illness and deaths, vaccination will be for people older than 60 years and those with chronic diseases.

To protect the national health system, recipients will be medical personnel as well as workers and officials tasked with disease control or are in contact with patients.

To protect the national economy and society, recipients will be the general public and workers in the service, tourism and industrial sectors. Employers will co-pay for the vaccination of their migrant workers.

Vaccines will also be held in reserve for emergency use."

"The first, limited delivery of vaccines would be on Feb 24. These doses would be used through into May to save lives and contain COVID-19 in the country, Dr Apisamai said."

"The government would announce details about COVID-19 vaccination later, she said.

Thai Airways International announced on Tuesday it would deliver the first 200,000 doses of vaccine, supplied by China’s Sinovac Biotech Co, to Thailand on Feb 24."

A coronavirus vaccine developed by China's Sinovac has been found to be 50.4% effective in Brazilian clinical trials, according to the latest results released by researchers.

It shows the vaccine is significantly less effective than previous data suggested - barely over the 50% needed for regulatory approval.

The Chinese vaccine is one of two that the Brazilian government has lined up.

Brazil has been one of the countries worst affected by Covid-19.

Sinovac, a Beijing-based biopharmaceutical company, is behind CoronaVac, an inactivated vaccine. It works by using killed viral particles to expose the body's immune system to the virus without risking a serious disease response.

Several countries, including Indonesia, Turkey and Singapore, have placed orders for the vaccine.

Last week researchers at the Butantan Institute, which has been conducting the trials in Brazil, announced that the vaccine had a 78% efficacy against "mild-to-severe" Covid-19 cases.

But on Tuesday they revealed that calculations for this figure did not include data from a group of "very mild infections" among those who received the vaccine that did not require clinical assistance.

With the inclusion of this data, the efficacy rate is now 50.4%, said researchers.

But Butantan stressed that the vaccine is 78% effective in preventing mild cases that needed treatment and 100% effective in staving off moderate to serious cases.

The Sinovac trials have yielded different results across different countries.

Last month Turkish researchers said the Sinovac vaccine was 91.25% effective, while Indonesia, which rolled out its mass vaccination programme on Wednesday, said it was 65.3% effective.

Both were interim results from late-stage trials.

    Can vaccines be compared?
By Philippa Roxby, BBC Health reporter

The latest figures for China's coronavirus vaccine show just how difficult it is to compare vaccines.

On the face of it, the 50% effectiveness figure isn't as good as Oxford's 70% or Pfizer and Moderna's 95%.

But trials are run very differently in different countries - the numbers of volunteers enrolled varies wildly, as do the criteria used to test how much protection the vaccines offer.

A figure for efficacy is reached by looking at how many people developed Covid after being given the vaccine, compared with how many were affected when given a dummy injection. Normally, that is based on people developing obvious symptoms but in this Brazilian trial, people with no symptoms also appear to have been included.

So it's only when the full data from all trials of this vaccine are published that scientists can analyse its real efficacy, and compare like with like. Only limited data for this Sinovac vaccine is currently available - and experts say that is confusing the picture.

In the long term, many vaccines against Covid are needed to vaccinate the world and, inevitably, some will perform better than others - but giving as many people as possible some protection is the priority.

There has been concern and criticism that Chinese vaccine trials are not subject to the same scrutiny and levels of transparency as its Western counterparts.

Both the Sinovac vaccine and the vaccine developed by Oxford University and pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca have requests for emergency use authorisation pending with regulators in Brazil.

better than nothing i suppose, but i wouldnt feel protected by the chinese vaccine given their penchant for deception, fakery, falsification, trickery and poor practice.

the peasants and chickenheads will receive the chinese vaccine, whilst those with money will be able to purchase the superior western vaccines.
i would expect that farangs will have to pay, whatever vaccine they get.

As I have said repeatedly, HooHoo and Klondyke should rush to get Mr. Shithole's vaccine, even if it isn't very good.

Any vaccine is better than no vaccine.

Allegedly foreigners over a certain age are able to obtain a vaccine.

Chinese netizens hail Vucic for refuting German media doubts on China-Serbia ties amid COVID-19 fight

    Published: Feb 18, 2021 05:33 PM

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's comments refuting doubts cast by German media on China-Serbia cooperation won widespread applause from Chinese netizens on Thursday, as he said China delivered at a time when no one wanted to deliver anything to his country to help Serbia fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

"My job is to do something for my country. They (China) delivered in a time when no one wanted to deliver anything to this country. They delivered ventilators that saved hundreds of thousands of lives," Serbian President Vucic said in a February 17 interview with German newspaper Bild when Bild's journalist challenged him with questions that threw doubt on Sino-Serbian cooperation.

Vucic said in the interview that he knew there would be many problems for his country to get vaccines from the EU.

He also said he is proud of the current state of China-Serbia relations.

The video of his interview with Bild posted on China's Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo gained widespread applause from Chinese netizens. The relevant topic was viewed more than 67.99 million times as of press time.

"Serbia should be proud to have such a president, your country must be getting better and better," commented one Weibo user.

Some netizens also criticized the German media, saying that the China-Serbia relationship will not be affected even if it tries to sow discord between the two countries.

The first batch of one million doses of COVID-19 vaccines developed by China's leading pharmaceutical company Sinopharm arrived in Serbia on January 16, 2021, and was received by the country's president at Nikola Tesla International Airport in Belgrade, Xinhua news reported.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with all those Belt and Owed loans the Serbian President has taken from the chinkies. And of course Serbia is famed for its transparency, so there's no way he or his cronies would have personally benefited.
