And having taken an age to come around to the idea, it's taking them an age to implement it.
The health secretary ('door' matt hancock) is talking about ten years in jail for people who don't comply. Unfortunately he doesn't have any actual law to back that up.
More importantly though, why doesn't the self-important pipsqueak focus on his actual job?
Tell that to the tory fanboys on here, though.
The world’s closest known relative to the Covid-19 virus was found in 2013 by Chinese scientists in an abandoned mine where it was linked to deaths caused by a coronavirus-type respiratory illness.

Perhaps that's why the Serbia chose their vaccine, after BioNTech/Pfizer, Russian Sputnik V, also Chinese Sinopharm?
Now they are after UK the most vaccinated in Europe per capita (7%).
And Hungary, Czech and Austria are going also for the Russian and Chinese vaccines...
116-year-old nun survives COVID-19
PARIS -- Whether it was the power of her prayers or her T-cells that did it, 116-year-old French nun Lucile Randon has survived COVID-19.
The nun, whose religious name is Sister Andre, is the second-oldest known living person in the world, according to the Gerontology Research Group, which validates details of people believed to be aged 110 or older.
French media report that the nun, whose religious name is Sister Andre, tested positive for the virus in mid-January in the southern French city of Toulon. But just three weeks later she is fit as a fiddle - albeit it in her regular wheelchair. She is even healthy enough to look forward to her 117th birthday on Thursday.
She told Var-Matin newspaper “I didn't even realize I had it.”
Sister Andre, who is blind, did not even worry when she heard the news of diagnosis.
“She didn't ask me about her health, but about her habits,” David Tavella, the communications manager for the care home where she lives, told the paper. “For example, she wanted to know if meal or bedtime schedules would change. She showed no fear of the disease. On the other hand, she was very concerned about the other residents.”
Not all shared Sister Andre's luck: In January, 81 of the 88 residents of the facility tested positive and about 10 died, according to the newspaper.
The nun is now reportedly officially cured - she was allowed to attend Mass.

Seems to me to be a bit of a schoolboy error.

I did a bit of a double take.

Misleading title.
They don't have the correct syringes and as a consequence they will be getting 5 doses instead of 6 out of each bottle. resulting in a 1/6th loss. They are not descarding anything. I am sure they are in the process of getting the correct syringes. We had the same problem here in the US, and resolved it with more efficient syringes,
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
It appears the WHO does not agree with the EU, not that either side have covered themselves in glory over the whole COVID affair; WHO cosying up to Xi and the EU striking out at other countries vaccine success to try to deflect from its own failures. Something obviously not noticed by SeekingareturntotheEU as he has remained (as is usual where it doesn't work in his favour) remarkably silent - perhaps he has not rehearsed a narrative to trot out endlessly. Anyway this from the Beeb.
Covid: WHO backs Oxford vaccine 'even if variants present'
The World Health Organization recommends using the vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca even in countries tackling new variants of coronavirus.
Some new forms of the virus appear to make vaccines less effective.
The WHO also says the vaccine can be used in people aged over 65, which some countries have advised against.
Spacing out the two doses, as is happening in the UK, makes the vaccine more effective, it advises.
The Oxford vaccine is seen as the "vaccine for the world" as it is cheap, can be mass produced and is stored in a standard fridge.
However, it has attracted controversy about its effectiveness against new variants, whether it should be used in the elderly and how far apart the doses should be given, due to a lack of data.
The WHO's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization, known as Sage, has been scrutinising evidence from vaccine trials.
Its interim recommendations say the vaccine is 63% effective overall.
However, early data from trials in South Africa showed the vaccine was offering "minimal protection" against mild and moderate disease in young people.
The WHO's director of immunisation, Dr Katherine O'Brien, said the South African study was "inconclusive" and it was "plausible" the vaccine would still prevent severe disease.
A variant in the country has acquired mutations that seem to help it evade immunity from vaccines and from previous infections.
However Oxford scientists still expect their vaccine to prevent people from becoming seriously ill with Covid-19 and needing hospital treatment.
"There is no reason not to recommend its use even in countries that have circulation of the variant," said Dr Alejandro Cravioto, the chairman of WHO's Sage.

Wasted, perhaps.
Fully vaccinated people can skip Covid quarantines, CDC says
This id the US CDC.
"People who have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus -- right now that means with two doses of either the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine -- can skip quarantine if they are exposed to someone infected with the virus, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday. "

One has to assume that the 63% is after the second jab otherwise they would have stated the higher number.
"Effective overall" doesn't impress me either since I am over 65 and could care less how good figures they can present for younger age groups.
AZ should come clear and stop this averaging which is based on a test group of persons 18-55 years old.

Human vaccine trials to start in Thailand next month
THAILAND: Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed today (Feb 10) that Thailand will start clinical trials of a locally developed COVID-19 vaccine in March, the country’s first inoculation program to enter human trials.
Research on the program started in the middle of last year and initial testing on animals yielded positive results, Mr Anutin confirmed. The program is being driven by the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation, the Programme for Appropriate Technology in Health, and Mahidol University.
“Thailand isn’t just relying on one source for vaccines,” commented Mr Anutin.

Looks like the chinkies had a little word in the ear of some cases that could prove they had the Wuhan virus as far back as OCTOBER 2019.
Bombshell Report: Evidence China Concealed COVID-19 In October 2019As first reported by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, good evidence suggests the COVID-19 virus was evident in Wuhan hospitalizations at least 90 days before the disease was first formally identified in Dec. 2019.
The Chinese Community Party (CCP) has been notably evasive in working with health experts and turned down the World Health Organization’s (WHO) urging to perform additional lab testing on blood samples collected in autumn 2019. It has also been pushing myriad cover stories about the virus’s outbreak, including that it originated in a wet market and came in from foreign countries in frozen food.
While Chinese authorities communicated that they recently performed antibody tests on two-thirds of the patients documented as having COVID-19-like symptoms 90 days before Dec. 2019, WHO investigators claim such antibodies would not necessarily be detectable long after.
Of the 92 patients who were tested for antibodies, a third are now deceased or “did not grant permission” to participate, and the remaining individuals tested negative for serology tests.
