Yep and interest rates, all that ammo has gone from most Govts so there's not a lot left to deploy.

Money has been way too cheap for over a decade so it'll be interesting to see how the forthcoming explosion in increased leverage will pan out - whole industries will be shutting down, reduced work rates will extend or result in wholesale layoffs, domestic consumerism across whole platforms will collapse, incomes across the spectrum will contract and all this will happen in such a narrow time frame of weeks. Credit of course is the answer to short term difficulty but in Britain up to 20 million have savings of less than £500 or none at all. Covid-19 will have the same impact as global war.

I had to laugh though when I read that for the Brits the Boris Bounce is over - did they really think that the landslide election of a Clown was a solution to the worst socio-economic decision in modern history??

The cancellation of international travel is now imminent as a global measure.

It is when urban quarantines become the norm will be the real showstopper.

The equity markets will either have to be suspended globally or face destruction.

Personally, I am actually looking forward to its economic collapse - all those tossers crowing over their fat dividends will be squealing like stuck pigs now.

Cash is king when disasters strike and of course it does help if one is in receipt of government pensions and not those dependent on the performance of stock markets etc.

BoJo is now telling people who have merely a sniffle to stay at home. Honestly, that man will do anything to avoid facing the Commons.

    Har, har.

To think, all the bluster of right wing Tory politics undone by a flu virus and Britain's membership of the EU is to be extended thereby.

    Every cloud as they say.

I'm a bit concerned about the Thai immigration offices closing down. Will our existing extensions be extended automatically??

Uh oh, He was just saying he wasn't concerned. I wonder if he is now.
Two Republican congressmen who were in close contact with Donald Trump in recent days have self-quarantined over concerns that they were also in contact in the same period with a known carrier of the coronavirus.

Republicans Matt Gaetz of Florida and Doug Collins of Georgia announced on Monday that they had begun two weeks of self-imposed isolation, as recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for anyone who has come into contact with the virus. Both congressmen said they were asymptomatic.

Gaetz flew with Trump on Air Force One from Orlando to Washington on Monday and was informed en route that he had come into contact with a virus carrier at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland last month.

Beijing objects to term ‘Wuhan coronavirus,’ and says it may not have originated in China

    Key Points

    • China’s foreign ministry objected on Monday to the term “Wuhan coronavirus.”
    • The ministry has claimed that even though the epidemic was first reported in China, it didn’t necessarily originate there.
    • As the growth in the number of infected cases appear to slow in China, Beijing has begun giving test kits to countries such as Pakistan, Iran and Japan.

Work sent an email that it is strongly advised for foreigners to stay indoors due to nationalist gangs making threats online. I am erring on the side of optimism and thinking that this is just keyboard warrior talk.

Yes, it's outrageous calling it the Wuhan Coronavirus.

The proper name should be the Wuhan Institute of Virology Whoops We Opened The Wrong Bottle Coronavirus.

Thatcher would have sorted it out. 3 day working weeks, no summer holidays, and close all industries north of Peterborough.

    Asshole of the Week !

Is the Italian politician Nicola Zingaretti who is the first leading Italian politician to test positive for the virus!

Two week ago he said this:

    >On February 27 he posted a photo while he was toasting during an aperitif against fear, after accepting the appeal launched by Beppe Sala to support the city of Milan: "Let's not lose our habits, we can't stop Milan and the Italy. Our economy is stronger than fear: we go out to drink an aperitif, a coffee or to eat a pizza. We must not destroy life or spread panic. Courage, we react and together we will do it! ".<

Does that sound like somebody you might know ?

    CDC advice:

Social distancing means remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.

Fucking cheese eating surrender monkeys again.

Just make sure you don't wear a beret, a stripey T-shirt and a necklace of onions, and avoid mincing around like Buttplug would and you'll be fine.

TBH, I'm surprised that India's reported cases are so low.
