A graduation ceremony at Mae Jo university has been cancelled, apparently one student has been diagnosed with covid-19...Last night the university displayed a sign at its doors about the cancellation, I don't have more details.

Overall, it's a good idea to cancel large events such as this one, hundreds of students from different provinces who could then spread the disease all over Thailand... problem is the graduates are already in CM as the cancellation occurred 1 or 2 days before 5he event.

^^ good read that one, 'Arry.

Lots of interesting information. If the numbers are declining so significantly in China as they state then that's very good news.

They do have an advantage though.

They can say "if you go outside we will kill you" and people will believe it.

In case you haven't noticed it's in over 70 countries now, most of them infected directly by the chinkies. Perhaps you need to look up the word "containing".

They have, in fairness, done a reasonable job of closing the stable door after the fucking horse has not only bolted but raced around the track, stopped for a bale of hay or two and sped off into the distance.

The Chinese weren't prepared, the world was warned and looked on with no emergency plans,The Chinese got on with it,and hopefully it won't emerge again.

Different story if they would of been irresponsible, could of been a Plaque with 1.4 billion population.

Even the chinkies said if they had acted two weeks earlier instead of slapping down the doctor that raised the alarm, the number of infections would be a third of what it is now.

Anyway, there's quite an interesting article here about how Mr. Shithole is great at clinging to power but utter shit at running a country.

WHO: Japan outbreak among greatest concern

GENEVA/BEIJING (Reuters) — The new coronavirus appears to now be spreading much more rapidly outside China than within, and airports in hard-hit countries were ramping up screening of travelers.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said almost eight times as many cases had been reported outside China as inside in the previous 24 hours, adding that the risk of coronavirus spreading was now very high at a global level.

At a briefing in Geneva, he said outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, Iran and Japan were the greatest concern, but that there was evidence that close surveillance was working in South Korea, the worst affected country outside China, and the epidemic could be contained there.

The global death toll exceeded 3,000, with the number of dead in Italy jumping by 18 to 52. Latvia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal and Morocco reported cases for the first time, bringing the total to more than 60 countries with the illness known as COVID-19.

A senior U.S. official said he was concerned about a likely jump in the number of cases in the United States, which has had more than 90, with six deaths. More testing will almost surely lead to more confirmed cases.

“When you have a number of cases that you’ve identified and they’ve been in the community for a while, you’re going to wind up seeing a lot more cases than you would have predicted,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the infectious diseases unit at the U.S. National Institutes of Health, told CNN.

But Wuhan itself, at the center of the epidemic, shut the first of 16 specially built hospitals that were hurriedly put up to treat coronavirus cases, the Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said.

There was also a steep fall in new cases in Hubei, the province around Wuhan, but China remained on alert for people returning home with the virus from other countries.Speech

Germany, France, UK offer Iran 5 mln-euro package for coronavirus

Britain, Germany and France have offered a 5 million-euro ($5.6 million) package to Iran to help fight coronavirus in the country, Britain’s Foreign Office said on Monday.

The so-called E3 group would provide the support through the World Health Organization or other UN agencies, it said in a statement.

The group was also sending medical material to Iran on Monday, including equipment for laboratory tests, protective body suits and gloves, the statement said.

No taxes or VAT paid, and ofcourse work related death rates 8 times higher than other workers have.

The US death total rose by one after someone who died recently tested positive.

And the current total of deaths is now 3,164.

    The chart refreshes quite frequently.

Seattle is really going to take a hit.

A seventh person with coronavirus has died in the Seattle area of the US, but the infection wasn’t identified until after their death.

The New York Times has reported that the individual was brought to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center on 24 February and died two days later, before a crisis in the state began unfolding over the weekend.

Susan Gregg, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said on Tuesday that samples had tested positive for the virus. “In coordination with Public Health, we have determined that some staff may have been exposed while working in an intensive care unit where the patient had been treated,” Gregg said.

Why Was the 1918 Influenza Pandemic Called the ‘Spanish Flu’?

In World War I, neutral Spain was the first to report flu deaths in its newspapers, so commentators soon nicknamed the pandemic ‘Spanish flu.’

The ongoing devastation of World War I engulfed much of Europe in spring of 1918 as soldiers - crowded onto military bases in the United States and along the Western Front in Europe - began to fall ill.
Droves of otherwise healthy young men reported to camp infirmaries with typical influenza symptoms like fever, aches and nausea, though doctors soon realized this was no ordinary flu.
Many who suffered from it developed a deadly form of pneumonia, and their lungs filled with bloody fluid. They choked on the pinkish froth as they gasped for their last breath.

The flu outbreak was shrouded in secrecy.

These terrifying early reports were kept secret. Americans had joined the fight in 1917, bringing the Allies ever closer to victory over Germany and the Central Powers by the spring of 1918.
The war had reached a turning point and neither side wanted to divulge any weakness, says Jim Higgins, a Spanish flu historian at the University of Houston-Victoria in Texas.

    The Chinese again

    China

More recently, experts have proposed a third hypothesis: The Spanish flu originated somewhere in northern China in late 1917 and swiftly moved to western Europe with the 140,000 Chinese laborers the French and British governments recruited to perform manual labor to free up troops for wartime duty.22 May 2018

You can keep your distance as much as you like, you can don a face mask and snuggle within complacency, but in the end money and children will get you.

Billions handle currency daily and we all touch our face countless times, but as a vector within society nothing can better a school for its ability to transmit disease within the fabric of society.

If the world was serious in tackling the spread, it should close all schools, colleges and universities now in addition to banning international travel and suspending public transport.

Death rate of SARS was 10%, of MERS 35% so both of them where more potent than COVID.
The problem with COVID is not the strength of the virus but its speed of spreading.

Basically it is a flu on steroids.

I notice the "Serious or Critical" rate is 17% of the total.

And India added 15 cases today.... is that the start?

Iran has temporarily released more than 54,000 prisoners in an effort to combat the spread of the new coronavirus disease in crowded jails.
Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili told reporters the inmates were allowed out of prison after testing negative for Covid-19 and posting bail.
"Security prisoners" sentenced to more than five years will not be let out.
