A 1 kt current is strong, but a current one third of that could theoretically travel 100 km in a week.
The distance away the body was found is variously reported in the press at 32 miles and 62 miles - my guess a careless typo that was re-reported. (and 62 miles is 100km)
Coastal currents tend to be oscillatory, ie back and forth with the tide, but even so, what at first appears to be a huge distance is easily achievable with time.
Third World countries are definitely dangerous for a girl to be walking home alone after midnight, but there are plenty of incidents in developed countries too.Quote:
