BANGKOK, 16th May 2018 (NNT) – The Pollution Control Department (PCD) has detected 412 pollution sources along Saen Saep canal in Bangkok, which do not meet the standard value.
PCD Director-General Sunee Piyaphanphong said her department inspected 631 public and private buildings along Saen Saep canal during 2016-2017 and found out that 412 of them, or 66 percent, did not meet the standard value.
She has instructed the pollution sources to improve the wastewater treatment system and impose a daily maximum fine of 2,000 baht on those that do not comply with the construction.
She has called on all parties including entrepreneurs and general public to help maintain and restore water quality in Saen Saep canal.
