Given the starting point under Thai law is the death sentence for murder, regardless of compensation, 8 years is quite a step.
Naive maybe in your eyes, but I think its a valid point. I can't think of any other murder cases resolved in this way in Thailand in my 30 years there. Especially with the aggrivating features of boddy chopping, suitcase storage and Mekong disposal.
