Alleged loan shark’s land plots in Pathum Thani impounded

Officials of the Department of Special Investigation today began the process to impound 29 land plots worth about 42 million baht in Pathum Thani province belonging to an alleged loan shark and his associates.

DSI deputy director-general Pol Lt-Col Suriya Singhakamol and his inquiry officers as well as military personnel went to Thanyaburi branch office of Pathum Thani provincial land office to follow up the confiscation of the land plots belonging to Mr Wichan Pan-ngarm, a wanted loan shark.

Mr Sanya Kongsombat, Pathum Thani land official, disclosed that Wichai occupies 29 land plots mostly in Rattanakosin 200 Years housing estate in Thanyaburi district.

Accompanied by the land official, the DSI officials and military personnel then went to the housing estate to put up signs on Wichai’s land plots declaring that the plots are now impounded .

Pol Lt-Col Suriya said DSI officials were investigating whether Wichai owns more land elsewhere besides Pathum Thani.

DSI traces loan shark king’s fortunes in Uthai Thani

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) continued to trace the huge fortunes of alleged loan shark king after having obtained evidence that he owned over a billion baht property in Uthai Thani province.

DSI director of special investigative unit Pol Col Kolawit Boonnak said the loan shark boss Wichai Pan-ngarm or well-known as Sia Chai owned many properties by in Uthai Thani province, his hometown.

He said DSI would trace all his properties and impound them.

“No matter how or in what way he has transferred the deeds, we will find all of them,” he said.

He also said yesterday’s raids at his properties in Pathum Thani netted 29 land plots worth over 40 million baht.

But he said the impounded properties in Pathum Thani accounted less than 10 per cent of what he owns.

This excluded assets which have been previously transferred to other members of his family and his loan shark network.

In the mean time, the DSI is also investigating whether any state officials are also involved with the illegal activities.

Wichai occupies 29 land plots, mostly in Rattanakosin 200 Years housing estate in Thanyaburi district.

The impounded assets during yesterday’s raids included the PNG Apartment building, at 81 Soi Rangsit-Pathum Thani 10, a 5-storey building hosting 3 companies, including Thanachai 89, Phra Mae Toranee Kongka, and Chai Gold World.

These companies located in the seized building are made up of property and housing trading companies.

They opened as a cover up, where illegal loans were used to invest in them, the DSI director said.

DSI raids loan shark king’s properties in Uthai Thani

A combined force of officials from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and soldiers raided 10 targets in Uthai Thani province Monday in a concerted effort to trace and impound all the assets of loan shark king Wichai Pan-ngarm or well-known as Sia Chai.

Seven houses owned by Sia Chai in Muang and Nong Ka Yang districts were searched and 102 land title deeds with a total areas of 700 rais worth over 400 million baht were seized for examination.

The raids in his hometown in Uthai Thani came after recent raids in Pathum Thani where they netted 29 land plots worth over 40 million baht.

Sia Chai had a massive network of money lending business network that covered almost the whole country with cash flow of over four billion baht.

It has 86 offices nationwide to extend loans at higher rates and had more than 170,000 debtors.
