BANGKOK, 31 August 2016 (NNT) – The Government Lottery Office (GLO) Board is stepping up its action against the overpricing of lottery tickets as 165 vendors have had their quota revoked for such wrongdoing.
Member of the GLO Board Lt Col Noon Sansanakom revealed following a board meeting that a resolution has been made to increase the number of lottery tickets allocated to sellers in the quota system from 80,000 to 110,000 booklets and to reduce the number of those available for advance reservation from 250,000 to 220,000 booklets. The adjustments were made so as to create a balance between the two systems.
Moreover, the board agreed to shorten the period, during which vendors can pick up their tickets, from five days to three days. Individual sellers who are found overcharging for lottery tickets will be disqualified immediately, whereas selling entities or organizations committing such violation will first receive warnings before having their quota cut on the third offense in accordance with the number of overpriced units found.
Spokesperson for the GLO Board Thanawat Polvichai made known that, during the latest board meeting, a decision was made to disqualify and blacklist a total of 165 lottery vendors, comprising 152 in the quota system and 13 in the advance booking system. First warnings were also issued to 35 entities and organizations.
