Admission to national parks free of charge on 14 Apr

BANGKOK, 8 April 2016 (NNT) – All national parks across Thailand will be temporarily lifting their admission fees on 14 April 2016, as part of the Songkran celebrations.

The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation's (DNP) Director-General Thanya Netithammakun has revealed 147 national parks across Thailand will be open to Thai citizens for free on 14 April 2016, as part of a campaign to promote family bonding during the holidays.

However, many national parks are still under the effect of the drought situation, restricting the amount of water at some attractions such as waterfalls, while other natural tourism activities such as bird and animal sighting and trekking will be available as normal.

The public are encouraged to visit the national park with their families, and should plan their journey in advance, while officers will be providing facilitation and safety protection to all travelers during this annual national holiday season.

Isn't doing that encouraging people to venture out onto the roads? Something the government was trying to reduce.
