Man Bleeds to Death After Yanking Tooth

    Bangkok Post
    June 18, 2015

A Kamphaeng Phet man bled to death after having a neighbour extract his tooth with a rock tied to a string, police said Thursday.

Pree Namthip, 64, was found dead at the door of his house in Muang district having bled out from the mouth, said Pol Lt Col Khamron Chanthip, a duty officer at Muang police station, who was alerted around 11.20pm on Wednesday.

Several packs of pain relievers were found at the scene. There were no traces of bruising on his body, Thai media reported today.

Mayuree Namthip, 29, his niece, told police that her uncle complained of a toothache a day before. So he hired his neighbour, Tee, a butcher, to pull the tooth for 20 baht by using traditional methods.

One end of a string was tied to his rotting molar and the other to a stone. Tee then threw the stone and the tooth was yanked out.

However, Pree suffered excessive bleeding. He complained of severe pain and took several packs of pain pills, but nothing improved, said Ms Mayuree.

Pain relievers containing aspirin can thin blood and slow clotting. On Wednesday night, her uncle died, prompting her to alert police.

Police interrogated his relatives and found that the man was also a heavy drinker and had several chronic diseases. His relatives told police Mr Pree did not like to see doctors when ill.

His body was sent to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital to determine the official cause of death. Police, meanwhile, planned to summons Tee for questioning.

Apparently, he had no beef seeing butchers.

Thinning blood can be a problem when you're long in the tooth.

They may find a major cavity where his brain should have been.

^Bleeding out is thought to be a not completely unpleasant way to die.

You pass out and don't wake up. I would prefer that to drowning or freezing, given the choice.

The tooth should be extracted with a yanking vertical motion, not horizontal with a thrown stone.

Exactly mate ,, like most people on here I to have had toothache ,, then also I have had kin screaming toothache !

Depends on the agony factor , with no access to a dentist about 10 years ago when I was screaming on the floor with the bastard thing I might well have done similar .

Yes its true some go down that root ,, problem is in Thai extra quality door handles would merely snap , bugger the door up and make his toothache worse
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

had a landlord once whose name was Rossiter (shit you not)
met him sitting on the stairs on the way out.
he couldn't decide on what to spend his money on
either some Mandies or the dentist for removal of a tooth that was driving him nuts.
I came back later that night tripping off my head and there he was standing at the
top of the stairs; one side of his face looking like a football.
He'd bought some Mandies and got a friend with a screwdriver
    let you figure the rest.

I remember when I was a kid, one of my classmates had a tooth extracted by some barbaric National Health "dentist" who managed to to tear a vein in the kid's mouth. He had to be rushed into hospital to stop the bleeding.

And then they wonder why grown up adults are scared of the dentist.

Mine gives me valium to even open my mouth for a wee bitty clean.

I hate it. And i know its good for me and my beautiful smile. But i sit there with my fists clenched and he has to drug me. "Take your little relaxant, Ms Patts".

Afterwards, great. I go off into lala land. The best is getting the bus home, drugged up to the eyeballs and drooling and talking to yourself.

In fact, not any different from a good night out in sunny Geneva. Except it costs zillions to go to the dentist.
