Thailand Will Melt Again Next Week

    Bangkok Post
    April 26, 2015

There will be a return to sweltering heat over the next few days with temperatures expected to top 40 degrees Celsius again after a welcome bit of relief over the weekend, the Meteorological Department said on Sunday.

Director-general Wanchai Sakudomchai said a high-pressure system covering the upper part of Thailand is weakening and that will cause less rainfall in the North and Northeast on Monday and Tuesday. After this, rain will gradually reduce in the Central Plains.

The country will be hit with “very hot” conditions with 40-plus degrees Celcius during the final days of April.

On April 21 and 22, temperatures hovered around 40C in most parts of Thailand, hitting near record highs in northern and northeastern provinces. Sukhothai reported the highest mercury at 42.5C.

The summer heat has been well below 40 over the past four days. The department reported the highest temperature on Saturday at 38.8C in Mae Hong Son.

The highest temperature recorded in Thailand was 44.5C which occurred on April 27, 1960 in Uttaradit province. The Meteorological Department warned in March that temperatures during this dry season could match the temperatures of 55 years ago.

I'm all for the heat. When the rain comes for some reason I itch profusely after showering. It's a kin' nightmare for me.

I doubt this information is very accurate because the Met Depts 212 million baht computer upgrade is still pending.

It was quite cool in Bangkok this April.

It's been hot and dry out here in Ubon, but these weather forecasts don't mean much at all- I mean, where are they on about? Bangkok? Who gives a toss about Bangkok. Certainly not out here.
