Koh Tao named Asia's #1 island by TripAdvisor

Koh Tao was named Asia’s Number 1 island and the world’s Number 5 island among tourists ahead of Bali and Phuket, according to TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site.

It was also ranked the world’s Number 5 travellers’ choice after Providenciates in Turkey, Maui in Hawaii, Roatan in Hondurus and Santorini in Greece.

TripAdvisor honours more than 100 islands worldwide. The annual awards are based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers across the globe.

The other top nine Travellers’ Choice islands in Asia are Bali, Phuket, Koh Samui, Lombok in Indonesia, Koh Lanta, Koh Pha-ngan, Boracay and Parawan in the Philippines and Malaysia’s Langkawi.

Read quite a few recent reviews, sort out the genuine ones from the wingers and go with that.

In general most people don't relate that photo to the murder scene, you in fact did not know if it was the same beach the murders were committed on.

I could of said it was not, you would not of known the difference.

Koh Tao as far as unsolved deaths come in at the bottom of the barrel. In the history of Koh Tao tourism deaths are minimal. Nothing compared to the mass number of tourists that float through the Mad House.

P.S. I know Tripadvisor can be bought off because they kept deleting my posts advising of the deaths in the DoomTown Inn despite the fact that I stayed there and was completely within the T&C's.

I also had access to some of their data where they kept rating a certain Chiang Mai hotel #1 despite the one they rated second having more and higher ratings.

Koh Tao island actually receives hundreds of poor reviews because of the poor value accommodation, poor service, rude staff and intimidatory tactics of owners who react badly when they receive justifiable criticism.

Only the vacuous young and imbecilic foreign visitor from some dreadfully dreary suburban dystopia could possibly rate that island in the scheme of things.
Frankly, the beaches and coves of Menorca and Fuerteventura, Corsica and Formentera, Symi and Kalymnos are infinitely better than that half-arsed, scruffy bogus cod " paradise" island full of morons, venal and brutal locals and flowing streams of effluent contaminated water dribbling away into those azure waters.

Trip Advisor as an objective source is as reliable as TAT or any other vested interest.
