Thread: 2 Germans caned and jailed in Singapore for vandalism.

SINGAPORE: Singapore yesterday sentenced two German men to three strokes of a rattan cane and nine months in prison after they were found guilty of vandalising a public train carriage, according to court documents.

The two men were identified as 22-year-old Andreas Von Knorre and 21-year-old Elton Hinz.

They entered a Singapore train depot at night in November and sprayed paint on a train that was parked there, the court records said.

The duo then left Singapore, were later spotted by police in Bangkok, and eventually were arrested in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and extradited back to Singapore, according to The Straits Times and other media reports.

They have been in jail since November, and their sentence will be backdated until then.

The two men are not the first foreigners to be jailed and caned for vandalism. In 2010, Swiss IT consultant Oliver Fricker was jailed five months - a sentence that was later raised to seven on appeal - and received three strokes of the cane, also for vandalising a public train parked at a depot.

"This is the darkest episode of my entire life," said Von Knorre while being sentenced. "I want to apologise to the state of Singapore for the stupid act ... I've learned my lesson and will never do it again."

Hinz said: "I promise I will never do it again. I want to apologise to you, and my family for the shame and situation I've put them into."

They have the rule of law and enforce it hence when one goes to Singapore it is totally safe to walk around the city at all times of the day and night.

Australia is pathetic, criminals bash people, break into houses and run amock whilst the graffiti artists paint new busses and trains, scratch the windows and get a smack on the wrist.

It's disgusting....I've been on a few trains recently and did not see ONE window that had not had graffiti scratched on the windows. It appears that they do it with sandpaper. Little shitheads.

Its a Nanny state like Australia the difference being they mean business when enforcing the Law and Australia is weak as piss.

Further more regards Singapore, normal people going about their everyday business have nothing to fear from the Authorities.
