its hard to believe the US isn't helping in that situation at all. Instead the \phills have a rust bucket anchored out there to get squatters rights

Been a while.....Appears all reporters are banned, so the only news coming out is from lawyers talking to news folks after the fact. One article today on the testimony of US and Filipino medical examiners who agreed Jeff was strangled, then possibly drowned in the toilet - old news. New news was that Joe had some scratches on his chest and arms which were categorized as "mild defensive wounds". This goes further to proving "overwhelming violence and force" on Joe's part, which is needed to shore up a justification of a murder charge.

Speaking of shore, another US ship docked for resupply - no shore leave once again.

    All for now.

Davis ... Still think I'm gonna win our bet ... :-)

By the way that ship sitting there not getting any liberty is full of Filipino-Americans who don't need any liberty in PI anyway.

^ Yeah, I know. Not really being serious. Sometimes there is a supply related function I have to go aboard that ship to do. If it coincides with them being import in PI usually my counterpart in Guam, a Filipino, is more than happy to do it.

^Lots of Flips on USN ships. I remember back in '98, when the Blue Ridge came into Manila after about nine years of no visits after the base closures. Estrada, who was President then, was escorted on board by a female Lt. JG - a Filipina and a MAJOR hammer.

The picture of Estrada leering at this babe was front page 1 in every newspaper here. So, I checked it out....turns out she was a supply officer on a mine sweeper, and the Blue Ridge had borrowed her just to stage the photo op. Well done to some PR guy!

Recently a LTJG on the Blue Ridge of Chinese blood got fired and replaced by a Filipina Ensign ... She was knocked up by an enlisted Filipino dude within 2 months of reporting aboard. I had to deal with the LTJG while he was temporarily docked in my office till they finally punted him back to the civilian world.

Do you know anything about a jail cell on the U.S. embassy grounds in Manila that could serve as a prison cell if required?

^During the LCPL Dan Smith alleged rape case a decade ago, he was held in a conex on Embassy grounds for a year or two - don't know if it's still there.

I was in Olongapo just this last weekend.

Can't really say I agree 100% with their welcoming sign! but there sure was some nice eye candy.

Absolutely no reason to be settling for a ladyboy for company.

The sign states ,"Transparency and Good Governance" above "Home of the Most Beautiful Women..."

Obviously, Pvt Pemberton couldn't see through that hazy veil, eh.

Prosecution announced today that it has only five more witnesses to call, all as boring and repetitive as the previous ones, and will wrap it up in July. Defense kicks off in August. Scum lawyer Roque no longer appears at court or in interviews - guess he's milked it for all he can.

So, this will drag on until August, when it may or may not get more interesting, depending on what, if anything, the defense can muster.

Will be interesting to see their strategy. No idea what Flip law allows as defense but in US could be all sorts of defense tactics. Temporary insanity comes to mind.

^ I really don't see much he could pull out of the hat other than temporary insanity, a passionate apology to the family, the Pope and the Filipino people, and throw himself on the mercy of the court hoping to shave a few years.

He killed the guy/girl . . . and he should pay for it without clever little legal tactics.

Hopefully Flipland doesn't allo this kind of grandstanding

He should but we all know "justice" in the adversarial system is determined by the ability of the adversaries (prosecution vs defense) to convince a judge or jury to rule in their favor.

I agree Joe killed Jeff. I agree Joe should pay.

I don't agree that it qualifies as murder, with a 40 year penalty. I do think it qualifies as manslaughter, with a 20 year penalty.

I think any lawyer or defendant in the world would do whatever he could to end up with the lesser sentence.

There was no premeditation - he just met Jeff minutes earlier. Joe picked up what he thought was a female prostitute. They went to a dive hotel. The prostitute turned out to be a male prostitute. Joe lost it and choked Jeff out. Simple.

Temp insanity how's that go, your honor, she was very attractive, i didn't give a thought it could be a male, when she dropped her trousers and she had a bigger tadger than me i was overcome with a strange desire to fuck him then kill him.

prosecution asks did you not think about just walking away and putting it down to experience..

No sir I'd had my tongue down her mouth and she already sucked me and boy she gave good head that's what sent me over the edge, I had of enjoyed it.
