Anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Sunday night accepted the challenge by pro-government leader Jatuporn Prompan to a battle over the number of supporters on each side.
Addressing to supporters of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), Mr Suthep responded to Mr Jatuporn’s challenge earlier on Sunday evening that each sides mobilise its supporters to show the world which side has more followers.
There is no set date for the challenge but Mr Suthep said his Muan Mahaprachachon is ready for the battle and asked Mr Jatuporn to actually keep his challenge.
“There is no evil gang with any amount of money to resist the power of people who have the pure love in the country. Please come to the battle and we will see that those who fight for the boss will never win those who have the heart for the kingdom,” Mr Suthep said on Sunday night.
The PDRC and red-shirt United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) have each announced a big rally on the day the charter court rules on the case involving the prime minister's transfer of Thawil Pliensri, who has been reinstated as chief of the National Security Council on the ruling of the Supreme Admnistrative Court.
The date for the ruling has not been set. The prime minister has 15 days from last Thursday to present her defence.
