A website offering amateur photographers the chance to shoot nude models masturbating may be violating obscenity laws, a police commander said. The website owners said they want to attract photographers interested in the art aspect of nude photography rather than pornography.
THAILAND – February 11, 2013 [PDN]; the Daily News reporter read an item in the “Horkhao” training newspaper of Horkarnkha Thai university that described a popular website advertising nude photo sessions with models for amateur photographers.
The reporter checked the website and saw pictures of a sexy model and advertisements of sexual action. There were many types of models available for photo sessions, including swimsuit, lingerie, and nude female models. The nude photo shoots also offered the option of having the model masturbate with several kinds of sexual equipment including many types of fruits.
The website also was accepting job applications from females of any age interested in modeling. It described the work hours for sexy photo shoots being from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Three pay rates are offered to models: 4,000-6,000 THB/full day of taking photos wearing swimsuits or lingerie; 6,000-8,000 THB/full day of taking photos of bare breasts while wearing underwear; and 8,000-12,000 THB/full day of taking photos with full body nudity.
The full nudity photo sessions could also include the model using sexual equipment to masturbate for special consideration. The investigative reporter decided to do some undercover work by signing up for a modeling session to take photos.
At the photo session that the reporter had signed up for, the model will also be masturbating, the website said. So the reporter paid the 1,600 THB application fee for the photo shoot, along with two other amateur photographers. The photo session would be held at the suite of a 3.5-star hotel in Ratchada.
In the photo sessions, the photographers could adjust the appearance of the nude model and could touch the body of the model, who would also be using sexual equipment to provide more shooting options.
The model of the sexy magazine said that the taking of non-obscene nude photos is an art that requires the skillful use of light and shadow to get a beautiful picture. However, the photo sessions are seen as a way to build up the business by initially offering nude photo sessions with masturbation, with the hope of also attracting photographers interested in nude photography in terms of art instead of obscenity.
The setting up of private sessions to take a nude photo is private right of the business that hires the models and persuades the photographers to sign up for photo sessions. But for now, what might be regarded as obscenity in the photo sessions is an intent to promote their business and invite many people interested in photography, by setting up sessions to attract people that feature seductive dancing and masturbation.
Pol. Maj. Monchai Boonlert later said that to set up nude photo sessions that display the naked body in an obscene way is a violation of criminal obscenity laws, which carry a light penalty level. However, the police command unit of subduing for human trade will inspect the sexy model photo shoot sessions to determine if any human trading is involved.
If so, immediate action will be taken if the investigating officers discover that the hotel entrepreneur or the manager used or consented to allow the facilities to be used to perform illegal sexual acts according to the criminal law or the Act regarding prostitution. Then the registrar has the right to operate for the revocation of the business license.
