PHAYAO - Two boys, aged 2 and 4, drowned in a pond near their home on Wednesday night after their parents went to work and left them unsupervised, according to a report on Thairath.com.
The boys' father, Tana Sae-Song, 29, and their mother, Wararin Wichitmekin, 28, told police that they went to work at a farm and left their sons at home alone. When they returned from work, their children were missing.
Police said the Hmong parents usually took their sons to a nursery when they went out. However the nursery was closed on Wednesday because it was a national holiday.
Local peoplewho went fishing at the pond, about 20 metres from their village, on Wednesday night found the children's bodies there.
A medical examnation confirmed they were the missing children of Mr Tana and Mrs Wararin, and that they had been dead for more than six hours.
Police warn parents not to leave their children at home unsupervised.
