For the benefit of the more obtuse among us this little board doen't actually constitute a social network site within any construction of the libel laws. But, in this case involving the now defunct Malloy, it's all rather academic since one cannot malign the dead.

His drossy chums now probably sucking on a happy hour beer commemorating their friend it may be a different thing except they haven't a pot to piss in and thus are incapable of mounting any meaningful legal attack on this freedom of speech.

You can't begin to comprehend just how much I'm appalled that the lower end criminal classes have descended upon this country. It's quite simply just too embarrassing to be associated with them.

Nothing personal but when one dies in the circumstances such as Malloy one truly begins to believe in karma, fate and just the faintest idea there is such a thing as natural justice.

Let's face it, Malloy would have simply just gotten older, more alcoholic and more useless as time passed and eventually he would just be yet another untermensch sucking up decent taxpayers' money frittered away on benefits.

The same people that post an article or two about the dead person and claim that they basically know what the person was actually like. The same people who read and believe gullable shit printed in papers such as "He was realeased and went to celebrate on holiday" (If you hadn't realised by now, that's a load of bollocks).

Somebody getting a kick in is one thing, but being happy about somebody dying, in a case like this is pretty moronic to say the least. There's little point arguing with those people, they'll sit on their computer, attempt to get to you, because they can, because they're behind a computer screen knowing and believing they're safe and knowing they can say the pathetic shit they're saying because they're sat behind that screen.

It's sad really. That's life though and the way some people are.

Ian Devine, prosecuting, said that Molloy “has shown 11 or 12 years of violent behaviour”.
He was last sentenced to four months and two weeks imprisonment at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on September 30 for beating a man. He was released after serving less than half the sentence.

Flashbang, funnily enough, the wife and I were only just discussing the prospect of returning to Europe for a while. Our chums have a rather nice lodge in Chambery they won't be using and I have a hankering for Budleigh Salterton in the Spring.

Either way, our rather nice condo in Wongamat beckons and I expect whatever we decide, our winters will be spent languishing in luxurious indolence in our private gardens and infinity pool whilst gazing upon Pattaya Bay happily reflecting upon its use as the receptacle of all manner of flotsam, jetsam and other detritus including the odd falang.

But yes, I do agree, England is quite expensive.

British tourist Patrick Molloy drowns as he tries to escape gang in Thailand | Mail Online

The trio reportedly jetted to the paradise isle days after Mr Molloy completed an 18-week jail sentence for a violent assault outside a bar.

He was convicted in August of attacking another man outside Unique bar in Newmarket, Suffolk.

Bury St Edmunds Magistrates' Court heard Molloy had numerous previous convictions for offences including assault, public order offences, affray, and grievous and actual bodily harm.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We can confirm the death of a British national on December 2 in Pattaya, Thailand.

'We are providing consular assistance to the victim’s family.'

Pattaya, which is around two hours south of Bangkok, is one of the Thailand's main tourist hubs and is well-known for prostitution and its wild, alcohol-fuelled nightlife.

Investigation continues into UK Tourist Patrick Malloy’s drowning in Pattaya.

A day after three British men from the Cambridge and Suffolk area of England jumped into Pattaya Bay as they made a hasty escape from what has been reported as a considerable fight, Pattaya 103FM looks back at the series of events.

Following the untimely death of Brit, 28 year old Patrick Molloy, the city, national and international media has been awash with speculation as to the cause and outcome of the disagreement that is thought to have taken place prior to the man, along with his two pals, James Wilks and Gerry Robson leaping from a Pattaya Restaurant seafront into a scrappy ocean front. It was during the ensuing escape that Mr. Molloy drowned and the other two were rescued by emergency services and a nearby sailing boat.

Rumours are quickly spreading that, in fact it may have not been Thai nationals that the men had their disagreement with, and it has become clear that the three, who were certainly on the run, had thought that the restaurant might lead to another road and not end at the bay front. It was, according to witnesses, only as the men approached the edge that they realised that the only way forward was, in fact, the ocean. Speculation from the UK seems to indicate that Mr. Molloy was either a non swimmer or a non proficient swimmer which may have led to his drowning.

One thing is for certain, the survivors were less than willing to assist local police in their enquiries which may, in part, be due to previous encounters with Police in the UK, however Pattaya police were keen to try and resolve the matter and, at least, interview the men with whom the trio fell out. That enquiry has been somewhat hampered by a lack of information.

Newmarket, Cambridge and national newspapers in the UK have reported various rumours which have developed as time has passed. One of which is that the men were being followed by an angry mob of Local nationals which is obviously written to portray a massive gang of local Thais. The truth is thought to be somewhat less than the tabloid version, but nevertheless the men were obviously fleeing from a compromising situation, however caused.

Local bar owners have reported that, from early evening, the trio had been drinking and, sometimes, upsetting local staff. One bar owner states that one of his female staff was bruised in a disagreement over the equivelant of 18 UK pence and others have indicated that the three men were becoming more aggressive from the evening and into the early morning . Most bars, nightclubs and restaurants have access to a form of security or doorman style service, often offered by motor cycle taxi drivers who take offence when their co-nationals are either abused or insulted.

Regardless of the nationality of the men with whom the three men had their final argument, Tourists are reminded that Thai nationals are equally as nationalistically proud as the British or any other nation. All too often, tourists pick a fight with Thai men, seeing them as smaller and thus weaker, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

In Thailand it is rare for a Thai to raise his or her voice, in fact it is seen as a sign of virtual insanity. Anyone who has engaged in a relationship here will have seen their wife or girlfriend simply walk away or ignore them, sometimes for days, if we raise our voice or, God forbid, shout.

Its a cultural difference and one which is hugely important as a lesson to all visitors, most of whom, to be fair, would never see a reason to raise their voices. Thailand is a mainly Buddhist country and practices a peaceful way of life. That lifestyle, however, should never be misread as either complacent, soft or subservient.

Most Thai men are more than capable of defending themselves in ways equal to or above those available to foreigners and have the upper hand in that they can also call on their associates for backup. Most expats have seen Thais turn from the most genial people whose company is totally enjoyable, into a united front against trouble makers.

Pattaya’s tourist district includes various streets which are favoured by customers from different ethnic backgrounds and, again, tourists are reminded that this is a very safe and well policed area, however it remains in the tourists interest to show respect to, and interact with, all people of all nationalities with whom they come in contact.

Pattaya attracts visitors from all around the world and welcomes all nationalities to the Kingdom of Thailand. All to often disagreements occur between different groups of tourists and, with alcohol a lot cheaper than in many home countries, those disagreements can result in violence.

In a continued program of tourist support, the City promotes an international Tourist police force with members from various countries, each trained to try and combat violence with reason. 2012 has seen an increased presence of authority in the tourist areas and a subsequent reduction in crime and increase in quickly solved crime> However the increase in tourism, combined with alcohol does mean that the visitor to the city has to take some responsibility for his or her own actions.
