I have lived here full time since Nov 03 and had been spending long term holidays since 89 and over that time have read countless articles about the short comings of Thai monks ,maybe total hypocrisy is spread throughout Thai society from top to bottom, reading articles like this make me smile somewhat !http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...d-alcohol.html and with respect for a touch of "realism" I suggest you read this link

When I look at her photos, I can almost hear the MOO !

Lookalikes of the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury may have added a touch of class to the pics. An opportunity missed perhaps.

ABSOLUTELY UTTER RUBBISH! Dr Apinan (minister of avantguard) should know his history better, these are figures are not even from thailand, and they are monks not buddhas! If it had been a Thai contemporary artist had done the same thing with buddhas or religious object from another country, it would have been quite ok with him.

^ Spot on, the pics are not of Buddha statues, but of monks.

Not a bad reflection on many of today's monks, either. The amount of bling and electronic gear some monks sport these days along with deliberate mixing with women (which you'd rarely if ever see ten years ago) would make Gautama weep.

I think those pics and poses are enough to draw attention to the question of celibacy and how it's regarded by monks these days.

Art for art's sake, the pics had impact and made people think.
